starting after being stood

Hi all its a 95 wrx the problem is when the car has been stood for about 5 days i get in turn the key and nothing happens all the dash lights come on but that's it no trying to start or anything its like the battery is completely flat (but its not). It does this about 3-4 times before it will start then runs fine like there was nothing wrong just wondering if it could be dampness or has anyone had the same happen to them.

i know the obvious would be not to leave so long but being a class 1 driver i am away all week

thanks guys merry christmas

Initial thought check the battery terminals are tight..

If the battery terminals are ok. It could be a sticky ignition relay

probably more likely to be something other than the battery terminals loose.. only that's what the problem with my car was when this occurred :)

If not the battery terminals it could be the alarm or immobiliser miss behaving? maybe a sticky relay?

i had a similar problem to this on a vauxhall astra a few years ago it turned out to be damp in the ignition switch might not be same on yours but worth checking out

hi i doubt it will be the bat terminal, if the lights come on,

the is a single black wire that pushes on to the starter motor it can rust very easily, scrape it with a screw driver should get the contacts clean again.

but dont just wd40 it you may just mask over the problem for a bit, then a month later you could be a bit stranded

good luck
