Things to do in Solihull / Birmingham or nearby.
Hi,
I am taking a trip to Solihull (I know, not the best place) next week and will be babysitting my brothers little lad for a few days. Has anyone got any tips on places to go and see whilst down there. So far I have shortlisted the following: Warwick Castle (apparently there is an Ice slide and Ice rink there). Cadburys things. The Sea Life centre. Twycroft Zoo. Drayton Manor (although I don't fancy parking my scoob there as I've heard many have gone missing there). But not being from that area, I'm not sure if the above are any good or if there is anything else better for kids. (BTW. He is 5 years old) Any help would be appreciated. |

Having lived in Birmingscum for most of my life my advice would be to kill yourself rather than come here. It is the biggest cesspool in the not very British Isles.

I bet Tottenham or most of Hackney make it look like a nice place! |
Millenium point in B'ham has the Thinktank science museum, and IMAX cinema, both really good for kids (and big kids ;) ) :thumb:

I'll take that bet at any odds you care to mention. :D I guess you've really had enough of "New" britain then? I'm afraid that there's not much you can do about that other than leave the UK or make the most of what there is. I agree, we've gone downhill fast, but that what it is. Fortunatley kids still don't see that side and so I'm just going to make the most of the 3 days I'm there and hopefully he will have a good time anyway (even if I get a little bit stressed and out of pocket in the process). Anyway, I've narrowed the list down to the following: The national sea life centre. The black country living museum Think Tank. Warwick Castle. Cadbury World Twycross Zoo Sundown Adventure Land Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm Is there anything in the above list that I MUST avoid. (Due to it's crapness factor)? Maybe I should set up a poll. |
The usual bollocks spoken by people who lack perspective & facts ;)
Ten minutes drive from Solihull you have Hatton Country world. Don't bother with the black country museum. If you want to see how people really used to live in squalid conditions with fine examples of pre-homo sapien ape men then head east from Solihull along the A45 to Coventry :thumb: |
What about the National Motor Museum in Coventry.
|
Midlands air museum in Cov too, and national motor cycle museum.
