Drivers side suspension turret in the engine bay. I'll see if I have a pic.

It's the brown thing with silicon pipes attached. Move mine though so the on for my boost controller could be mounted in the standard position.

My GReddy one is mounted on the turret in the pic above, item with 2 blue pipes at the bottom of it and black and pink wire at the top.

Hope this is of use to you. :thumb:

i thought the boost solenoid was the thing below what u describe, the thing with the black pipe going into the top and it has 2 other pipes one in the middle and one at the botoom, ???

briforbes 20 December 2006 09:44 PM

Yes, that's the one.

The Rig 20 December 2006 10:07 PM

so whats the 1st/2nd pic pic in post number 3 all about ?

or is he wrong ? i guess so !?!?!?

mickywrx 21 December 2006 07:54 PM

Guess I was wrong. IIRC when my boost controller was fitted at Envy Performance they said the brown gubbins thing was the standard boost solenoid. It was about 18 months ago, when it was fitted though ;)

So, if the thing thats circled is the standard item, where does the top pipe attach to? Mine had that bolt bunged in it when I bought it :wonder:

The Rig 21 December 2006 08:49 PM

it goes into the airbox, well, the 2nd part of the air box, seeing u dont have a standard airbox, maybe thats why it had the bolt ??

not dissing u in nay way with above comments, just wanted to know thats all

cheers

mickywrx 21 December 2006 08:55 PM

No dissing taken :)

I did have the standard air box and the other bit until not long ago. I'm pretty sure that the pipe had a bolt in it when I bought my car nearly 2 year ago. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong though, and I'm sure it won't be the last ;) :lol1:

So what's the brown gubbings thingy then :wonder:

Usually as standard, you've got a boost solenoid and pressure source switching device in there. Basically a whole load of vacuum pipes.

I have just had a Apexi AVC-R fitted but the standard boost controller as been left in place and the problem is it's now clicking away like mad as the engine comes on boost. Can I just disconnect the small multi plug from the standard boost controller to solve the probelm or does it have to remain connected for a reason?

jaytc2003 22 December 2006 11:17 AM

if you have the standard ecu and you disconnect it you will get a CEL.
If you have a power fc then just disconnect it

P1 FEK 22 December 2006 11:20 AM

I have the standard Ecu. What can i do about the mad clicking noise, any ideas?

P1 Fek

so that's what is clicking when I had my AVCR fitted .....I always wondered what it was !! I guess it has to be there or the ECU will throw a CEL ??
