Will fitting a uprated fuel pump be ok pre-remap

Was thinking of fitting my uprated fuel pump tomorrow, but the car wont be mapped til the new year.

Is this ok to do, and will it have any noticable effect on performance (doubtfull)

Is a fuel pressure regulator a good idea also?

Cheers

only problem you might get is if your standard fuel pressure regulator is weak through age,the new pump might be able to overpower the regulator and the car might run rough, been a few posts about this happening, but once mapped its fine....... i just fitted mine with no running issues....its a quick job though so do it and if there are unning issues simply remove the pump and refit the original until nearer remap time.......

depending on your power goals and turbo you intend to run an uprated fpr might be a good investment, should be ok on the original for at least 350 bhp though

Thanks for that, will have a go at fitting it tomorrow, I have heard that the Subaru "bag" is better than the one supplied with the pump, is this true anyone?

prefer to change from original as soon as you are above 300 target.............

and generally yes, use the original filter bag as long as its in good condition
