COMET - what a bunch of idiots!!

Just rang them ......

Me, "Do you price match against CURRYS?"

Comet, "Yes, Sir"

Me, "Good, I would therefore like you to put aside a iPOD 30Gb in Black for me to pick up for £170:10 (Currys Price)"

Comet, "Just realised Sir, that the Currys Offer runs out on Tuesday ... we cannot PriceMatch that"

Me, "What? Today is Sunday!"

Comet, "Yes but we are giving away free speakers with our iPODS"

Me, "Yes I know, thats why I will be buying from you and not Currys!"

Comet, "No Sir, you cannot have one with the speakers"

Me, "The speakers are FREE ...... are you saying that they actually have a cost"?

Comet, "WE suggest you buy from Currys"

Nice Business that COMET!! :thumb:

Frigging Ijiots

by the time you hacked around different stores and argued the toss you will come away thinking was it worth it ....still good for the big stores to boast how they will beat any other price until you try it......

Critical Bill 10 December 2006 02:11 PM

This is classic pslewis though. False economy incarnate. I suppose his time is worth so little he can afford to procrastinate for weeks on end. :D

Me, I buy swiftly and decisively as my time is worth more than any potential saving.

Customer service doesn't matter to some companies does it?

I used to shop on-line with Tesco, long story cut short ..... got food delivered, realised in 2 mins that my frozen stuff was still on the lorry. Rang them and asked them to turn driver round to come back, they said his phone is off so cant do it, they said they would refund my account with the cost of the frozen goods. I said no thanks I would rather have the goods delivered. Their answer will go to my grave with me ''We can't do that sir its under the minimum delivery charge'' WHAT, its your fault it's not here, I know so BUT IT'S NOT WORTH OUR WHILE TO COME TO YOU. I live 4 miles from the store. I enventually told them to poke it up their arse and vowed never to use them again.

grrrrrrr

powerman1 10 December 2006 02:18 PM

Tried ASDA for the first time due to a broken wrist, picked the delivery slot on a sunday.....waited till 2.30 to tell us van had broken down due to brake problems..yeh right.....never to be used again and would not trust any food delivery service again especially at Crimbo

Pete: Price match is always for the SAME deal, my friend, so Comet's deal WITH speakers, would have those knocked off before they price matched Currys, since Currys deal is WITHOUT speakers.

Yup that's the way it usually works, you either take the deal on offer, or haev the price match under the same conditions as the one you're matching against.

Jonno_johnson 10 December 2006 04:50 PM

Surely it doesn't affect you that much tho Pete afterall your on 120k a year, stop been a tight fisted old greed bag.

They say the speakers are FREE - therefore they cannot be factored in for pricing purposes! :D

Abdabz 10 December 2006 04:56 PM

I got angry with Comet a few years back.
I went to buy a washing machine with which I intended to wash my clothes including my smalls.
The "salesman" asked me if I would like to buy now and pay in 3 months time at no extra charge. I accepted the offer thinking I could spend the £300 in my sky rocket on booze, drugs and the execution of a lad I didnt like from my school days.
Anyway, I informed the "salesman" of my name and address and how long I have lived there for (thinking that wasnt relevant to the delivery of my washermatron).
He then said that I could have the 3 month offer and I would have to pay now. It turned out the F@cker had done a credit check on me and despite never missing a payment on any of my nominal credit agreements, I had failed
So Comet do illicit credit checks, thus causing the Abdabz much vexing

I got my revenge a few weeks when purchasing a £15 mp3 player and making the same "salesman" go and find one in purple before telling him I wanted one in red and sending him back again... Ahh Karma :)

The point is that, to anyone of any consequence, time IS money. If your economics allow for you to spend hours going round shops arguing with menials and then bleating on here about it for the sake of £20 off then it suggests you/your time is worth squat....

Probably nothing we didn't already know I suppose.... :thumb:

Bill, amen to that, I have come to that realisation recently, I have spent hours trying to save a tenner, life's to short, be careful and order what you wqant from a reputable supplier at a competive price, don't worry bout that last 1 percent as that's the one that brings you aggro.

Anyway, I get 10% off everything at Comet regardless !
