What are the best mods to do???

Had our Scooby for a couple of months now, and after the initial hiccup with the head gaskets going and opting for the total engine rebuild she is now fully run in, and had just the odd one or two other bits done to her....

The car is an M Reg WRX import, and the only performance mod to date is the exhuast system which will be going on there on Friday.

So over to you guys, you all know your stuff.....what would u recommend next??

Milamber 06 December 2006 09:52 AM

How deep are your pockets?

2.5 engine upgrade
22B bodykit

That would be a nice start....

In reality the minimum you should be running :norty: is a full decat, air filter, upgrade the intercooler and then remap. All under a thousand pounds and you'll be happy for a while I'd have thought.

Brakes and Handling IMHO

Once you know you can stop and get round corners then on with the power

Yeah i'd agree with that..... handling sorted, then power....

But possibly the best mod of all is an instruction day with Andy Walsh @Northweild!

Tripple'O G 06 December 2006 09:57 AM

Just had a re-build and want to mod straight away??
Ok-ay.....

Air filter
Ecu - Remap
Whiteline goodies.......

Then Bigger turbos, 255lt fuel pump, BIGGER INJECTORS, STRENGHTENED GEARBOX, ANTI-LAG LAUNCH CONTROL, SHORT SHIFTER, TEAR OUT THE BACK SEATS, GET RID OF ANY EXTRA WEIGHT AND GO ON THE STREETS TO KILL?!?!?
KILL I SAY!!
KILL THEM ALL!!!!!!

ahem.....

Air filter and ECU is probably your best bet....:D

looked into the 2.5 upgrade when the engine was rebuilt...but they recommended changing the gear box etc at the same time which made the cost huge, it was already costing 3.5k for all the work that was being done!!!!

the car has just come back from the bodyshop, had a bit of TLC on a few dents, a new splitter think its a Greddy style one??? different grill...and a set of new wheels....

what are your recommendations on FMIC's, Induction kits....oh and also what would you recommend to use for lowering to improve handling????

So many questions....but I guess I am just an out and out petrol head lol and the scooby isnt even the main car lol

Speak to Zak, at Mocom (click the ad banner at the top of this thread to see his website), he will have loads of ideas and give you some good advice too.

Yep 2nd Best Mod, made a huge difference to the handling - reduces understeer / promotes oversteer

Best spent £, agree fully with Essexboy and Milamber, a day with Andy Walsh at North Weald will make you faster than any Mod you add to the car.

Her at the back 06 December 2006 06:11 PM

Or autobodyworks Subaru Bodywork 01621 819009 or Essex Subaru Breakers - Home 01268 572149 both have done work on our car

loads from body kit to front mounts :D

ESB also have anti roll bars and drop links plus other new items and ABW have some lights on offer in this month news letter and the rear window spoiler :D

hectic 06 December 2006 06:20 PM

could always put 'clear ' indicators on and possibly one of those PINK badges on the front?? ;) you know the score, Nicky.. much the same as the Leon.. you need to get it breathing easily.. get as many ponies as poss front the engine you have .. .yadda yadda blah blah... :)

ice maiden 06 December 2006 06:51 PM

Cheers for all the advice guys....I can see a few more £££ being spent in the very near future!!!!!

Defo want to lower the car to improve the handling....and see where we go from there!!!!

Hectic, the indicators are now sorted lol.....and yep I know just how it is....before we know it the Scooby will be giving my Leon Cupra R a run for its money:)
