Thinking of buying a STI 5(V5)
Hiya,
I'm thinking of buying a STI-5(V5).What are they like to drive, live with? The one i'm loooking at has 320bhp,what would it be like? It has 65.000miles on it,is that ok or will i have problems? Are there any must upgrades/mods that i should do if i buy it. cheers for the advice:) :) Jay |
what sort of mods has it got to be running that bhp all ready, as standard is around 280 (book figs).
i think 320-330 is max on the injectors/turbo, would need a remap, exhaust decat etc there are a few sites with what to look for etc, but cant remember them at the mo, maybe someone else will be along soon to help out |
Here's the full spec and tell me what you think:

As it's a classic it's fairly powerful with a lowish weight so pretty rapid in a straight line & more so through the corners. In 2 years of ownership only 1 car showed me a clean pair of heels & that was because he caught me by surprise ;) Running costs are pretty steep but all Scoobs are like that so you just need to grin & bear it. Also be wary that some V's suffered from blown engines so again be aware of this & decide if you'd prefer one that hasn't blown vs one that has had a rebuild ... TX. |
Cheers for the advice TX.Yours looks really nice. How could i tell if the engine is ok

V difficult to tell I'm afraid ... what I'd do is ask if it's had a rebuild. If it has then all should be OK (check bill of sale for rebuild) if not then it's probably best to build in some budget for it just in case or negotiate some money off. My rebuild (!!) cost £3k back in 2003.
