Compulsary naming for reputation?

What does everyone think?
At present I feel the system is open to abuse, people can put down whatever name they like and that is counterproductive.
However the anonomity also asists people who would not normally start an arguement to let others know what they think of them.
Do you think when you send reputation (good or bad) your name should go with it?

It's not as if it's a hard thing to do really. Go into Admin CP, then into Usergroup Manager, select the usergroup and click edit, scroll down to the User Reputation Permissions section and change the "Can See Who Left User Ratings" option from "No" to "Yes" then click the "Update" button, job done :)

I'd then go into Promotions and setup a promotion to move anyone with a repuation lower than X (say -5) into a usergroup with no posting rights (possibly even the Banned group if you like).

The Snug Rhino 02 December 2006 08:52 AM

why ban anyone? everyone here is free to add whoever they want to their ignore lists - effectively everyone retains the right to privately ban anyone.

But if you add someone to your ignore list does that mean you dont see their rep comments? And, if that is the case, just because I have rep messages signed from UB it doesnt mean they are actually from him....

I like the idea of a rep system to weed out the plebs and it can be quite funny but all the plebs are doing is using it to send malicious messages and apparently putting someone elses name to it.

This system has got to be one of the most stupid, ill conceived things I've come across here.... well part from Zoints... when with more thought it could be ingenius :thumb:

Why not be honest enough to give your opinion of the bloke on the thread concerned?

i cannot believe these threads keep coming up :(

someone has red blobbed me  (so fcuking what)

fellow members this is not a competition, you don't win a prize for more points so why keep moaning about this? if you are a quality human being this will not change if some d1ck splash puts a red blob against your username, will it?

<awaits a huge amount of red blobs for posting the obvious>

I keep thinking the whole thing is a bit like Iraq. The mods went in and most people voted for it not really knowing what it was all about.

Now its gone tits up but difficult to change/withdraw it without losing face.

I think it would be good if people were only allowed one user ID to avoid the "Newbie-a-day" syndrome but I suppose that's impossible to achieve.

ScoobyDoo555 02 December 2006 06:10 PM

It's all rubbish - I've been red-blobbed by all sorts of people. Some, not using their real ID.

So, I've started doing the same - after all, in the whole context of what this is, it doesn't matter a to$$!!! :D

Perhaps if it had have been implemented with a bit of thought, we wouldn't be in this situation now......

I, personally, have NO issue with recieving red blobs, but what I will respond in kind with, is if the comments are percieved (by me) as offensive. After all, this is all a joke anyway, but any neg rep should be justified.....

Pretty simple IMHO :p

Anyway, due to having a life outside of Scoobynet, I'm off out with my wife & kids for the evening :D (not saying that those who've responded in this thread have no lives etc....... gawd this "consideration to everybody" stuff is tiring!! :D)

Dan

Why have yet another useless, wanky, easly abused and very misleading feature in the first place?

FFS, according to the reputation, Bubba Po is "well respected and should listened too"

Christ on a bike, image if a newbie took that seriously????

And of course the muppets all give each other good rep.

I guess this is another of Shaun's twattish ideas?

Bubba po 03 December 2006 02:59 PM

LOL at Diablo having an epileptic fit! :lol1: I think we're the only ones who aren't aking it mega seriously.

Anyroad, I happen to agree with the evaluation in my rep.:p

astraboy 03 December 2006 03:19 PM

some interesting viewpoints,I have to agree
However whats really interesting is the amount of negging I've had of the back of it.

How surreal..(perhaps :) )

One pseudonym referring to a "symbol" by its old pseudonym :lol1:

Dude, get with the programme - its just a BBS, its not reality.

No "fit" here, thank you. I have a life outside Scoobynet ;)

You know, it would be funnier if you didn't actually believe your own "hype". Although you are probably a moderately interesting social study on alternate realities for some....

Yet felt compelled in an ever so subtle way to demean a well respected member of this BBS. :lol1:
