Quick Ebay question...

If I buy a watch from the States on Ebay, will I pay import duty when it comes to the UK? Technically, the watch is second hand.

I brought a fosil watch a few months ago & paid cost of item & postage only

Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't - depends on how the parcel is marked and value.

Thanks. I've just done a bit of further research on the internet, and it seems import duty would definitely apply, therefore probably not making it worthwhile.

they need to mark the parcel as a gift :thumb:

the gift thing is well used , don't bother trying that,
the best thing is to mark the declared value down low enough for them not to bother, but if it goes missing you loose out:(
try and mark as second hand /used,
they will still go on value though, always get an invoice for the actual item as they charge duty on total price including post,
prove the post and item cost for a rebate:thumb:

there is a way to get out of the import duty get them to class it as a gift or present ive had lots off ebay.com and only once paid import tax as it was a company stating what i bought on the box which was £200 worth of stuff and only got charged £48 import tax other than that ive go away with it :)
