Road Charging Report

BBC NEWS | Politics | Motorists 'must pay for road use'

If they really do press ahead with this I am out of here... I am not prepared to fund this governments projects, experiements, benefits to low-lifes and new-comers etc every mile I drive.

They are about to take away the last little bit of pleasure that can be had as a motorist in the UK...

This country is going down the pan in almost every way. I don't think I want to live here anymore.

just seen this on the channel 4 news...probably wont happen if it does at all for 10 years according to sir ron eddington (is he a f*cking aussie as well?!), but i feel sorry for those that will be affected by the pilot schemes in the meantime...

all brought on by yet more environmental scaremongering...!!!

The most scary thing is that the transponders will record your every movement and speed.

They dont want you to stop driving, its the money theyre after. Would anyone on here reduce or stop making journeys if road pricing comes in?
Plus how long do you think it will be before some one comes up with ways of beating the system?

will it ever get to the point where the 'peasants are revolting'?

Better start packing then. Gordon Brown 'the Scoobynet peoples' hero' is bound to go for this scheme - his fat fingers greedily grasping for a pen to sign it off.

A report compiled by an australian airline chief executive is bound to advocate pricing people from the roads while at the same time advocating a massive expansion of airports.

People in this country are getting what they deserve.

We already "pay as you go" on the roads. The more you drive, the more fuel you buy, and hence the more you pay.

Perhaps they could take their road ideas and look at mobile phones instead - how about an annual phone tax. Newer more enviornmentally friendly models (i.e. ones without the bloody frog ringtone) get charged less. :D That would stop every kid over 5 wanting a phone.

Read the report before you spout such rubbish. Eddington advocates expansion at Heathrow, but nothing at Gatwick and Stansted which is the opposite ( For LGW & STN at least ) of current Govt policy. In case you haven't noticed the Aviation White Paper of 2003 advocates expansion at most airports.
