The Saturday Rock Show played a key part in my musical upbringing:thumb:

RIP Fluff:(

I have to say I'm underwhelmed by the amount of effort that obviously hasn't gone into the writing of that BBC article though, you'd think they would have more to say about one of their longest serving, and most popular DJ's:(

Sad another famous name gone .................

CPD, I thought the same last night. Looks like they've added a bit more this morning and it reads better now :) BBC NEWS | Entertainment | DJ 'Fluff' Freeman dies aged 79

I remember him raving about the early and unknown Led Zep - he wasn't wrong :D

Richard.

One of the originals, sorry he has gone.

Contrast him to modern DJs who jabber on and on about inane rubbish (especially commercial radio) . An old school DJ that did his job well; A credit to the industry.

Not 'alf :)

Sbradley 28 November 2006 10:55 AM

Nice bloke, too. Did lots of stuff for charideee, mate. 'Cos that's what it's all about, not 'alf.

Yes, I know that some of that was Tony Blackburn, but it still applies...

RIP Fluff - the only man ever to have Black Sabbath write a tune about him.

Spot on, and that inane rubbish is normally their favourite subjects...themselves, thats why I cannot stand scott mills, jeez that guy is full of his own self importance, moylesie also although I do think he's funny.

J4CKO 28 November 2006 12:21 PM

He had such a reassuring, pleasant and distinctive voice, I am sure at the time people dissaproved like some do about Chris Moyles, time tends to sort the true greats from the also rans, I do think the Chris Moyles might be in with a shout, but Scott Mills no chance. My current Favourite is Vernon Kay, very easy to listen to, doesnt prattle to much, is witty and doesnt sound false

RIP Fluff.

crofty 28 November 2006 12:44 PM

I used to record his Sunday evening show on a reel to reel tape recorder, God Im old .

RIP Fluff.

Yeah, but you're old;)

Maz 28 November 2006 05:58 PM

A fantastic person full stop. I watched a clip of him recently in a show recorded years ago where he put a young Johnny Rotten firmly in his place. Johnny was giving it the usual arrogant looking down his nose bit but Alan bless him knocked him down a peg or two, 'shut up little man, I'm talking now' priceless.:thumb:
