A word of warning!
Went to Tesco's today to get some food and was only gone about 15 minutes but when I returned to my Scoob some wxxker had smashed the passenger window and stolen my Tom Tom from the glove box:cry: !!! Cant f'ing believe it!!!!!! The wife's Gucci sunglasses & my Oakleys were in there along with a load of CD's but these were all untouched :wonder: so could have been worse I suppose! Bodywork damaged as well - front pillar by the window....not sure why or how this damaged has been caused when the git only needed to smash the window. It happened at 2pm in broad daylight in the middle of the busy car park!!
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR TOMTOM'S |
sorry to hear that mate t****rs
|
OH NO! :eek2:

You may have some comeback re: insurance with Tesco's .
All car parks display 'We will not be held responsible for vehicles parked .... blah blah blah ' , BUT they do have to take out public liabilty insurances etc, so they will have insurance whilst your vehicle is on their property . Give it a go, you have nothing to lose . |
Perhaps not much use to ScoobyMonkey, but worth a mention for all you other SatNav owners !
There are a couple of on-line registers where owners of TomTom devices can register there devices for free. Of course this doesn't prevent them from being stolen, but may assist in recovery. This is well worth doing as with this type of crime it is necessary to prove a device is stolen for a successful prosecution. Even if a number of devices are found at a suspects address, chances are if none of them are identifiable as being stolen and having an owner, they will walk  So, by registering your device at these sites, it could be returned and the thief prosecuted. Two main registers are:Thought it was worthy of mention and hope you don't have to use it. These sites also contain useful crime prevention advice and things you can do to the TomTom to assist in recovery if found. |
good advice
most people will just write it off they need to be caught and punished budgie:thumb: |
I have heard that with new bluetooth satnav, the theiving scum "scan" the area using their phones, etc to locate and target cars:(
|
Richard,
So sorry to hear about this mate. I know all the inconvienience of getting stuff fixed is the MOST annoying part of it all. as long as you and Mrs Monkey are OK, thats the main thing, everything else can be bought!!! see you soon Dazza & Loopy PS: worth writing a letter to Tesco though, you never know, they might give you some vouchers to spend on nice sticky puddings!!! :) |
:( Bad news this!
Try not to leave the Garmin in the car at all, its one of the reasons I went for it, it's much smaller than the TomTom and fits in my pocket if needed. Think I will switch on the Pin number function too. Its also a bit worrying that whoever nicks your SatNav instantly gets your home address too by hitting the "Go home" button! |

Just the other side of a cliff is easier... :D:D
|
 hahaha nice one Steve!!
|
Just had the Police round to check for finger prints etc. they haven't found anything but I suppose thats no great surprise! Cheers for the advice I will write to Tesco's (in Clacton by the way) and see how I get on.

This is a real bugger. I always take the ipaq out with me but generally leave the gps receiver in the car. I can't be assed removing the cradle everytime I go shopping though, does anyone?
|
I hate things like this, places its hard to get a glass for the subarus!! :(
Hope everything works out mate, you've made me change my mind about leaving mine in the glovebox!!! |
Sorry to hear about this.....
I know this doesn't help but my work sent out an email saying cars were being targeted if cradles were left on show.... Note: Also 9 out of 10 face off radio frts are also left in vehicle and the scum also look for the "round" marks left on the screen!!!!!! |
   SAD PEOPLE, they need to get a job and buy their own sat nav
|
The low lifes that buy these are just as bad as the thieves IMO

http://www.driverstechnology.co.uk/i...-with-lock.gifhttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/...to_24838_8.jpg It does look a bit like a low-tech power amp. "The Strongbox is a small but tough metal safe that can be secured to any fixed point inside your car using a steel cable that locks into the safe itself. It is made from an anodised aluminium casing, with a sliding inner tray made of tough steel. Fully lined, the tray will hold any sat nav unit currently available in the UK, including the mounting kits. The makers recommend fitting the Strongbox in the boot of a vehicle, and if you're not yet blessed by sat nav, it can also hold any other valuables that could be attractive to an opportunist thief, such as sunglasses, MP3 players or just your wallet. At around £40, it's cheaper than getting a smashed side window replaced, and a lot less painful than losing something shiny and expensive." [size=3]My only problem with this is the guy with the brick doesn't know you have a Strongbox safely tucked away in the boot. So he will still do your window in anyway. Unless they come with warning stickers. But then would you want to advertise it? Tricky one. Mind you if all else fails disguise the sucker marks with one of these which are a tad cheaper than the Strongbox. http://www.halfords.com/wcsstore/Hal...400-412015.jpg Mark ;) |
:lol1: :lol1: Hhhhmmmmmmmm Tricky one, :wonder: I’m prob just gonna go for the “There are NO valuables left in this vehicle” Sticker??

Mark went the sticker way when our car was done.
Read "No Sat nav left in car" |
