Lambda Sensor. Any info would be appreciated
 

:confused: Can anyone tell me how to tell whether my lambda sensor is faulty? My classic shaped impreza turbo - year 2000 - revs up to between 4 and 4 and a half thousand rpm and just won't rev any further-it just dies! I've fiddled with all the vacuum pipes and they're ok. When it's cold, it starts ok but once it warms up it struggles to run at all. Then all of a sudden it will just stay running. But it seems to hunt (keeps reving up and down on it's own within about 2-300 rpm. Could it be anything to do with the lambda sensor? Thanks for any information. :confused: :freak3:

It is far more likely to be the MAF sensor, on that year. Faulty Lambda does do the 'hunting' thing, but my faulty Lambda didn't do the 4000 rpm "wall"; my failed MAF sensor did.

The MAF (mass air flow, air flow meter) sensor is very weak on 99 -00 cars. HTH. :)
