I just had a look in the boot and noticed that the carpet was a bit wet.
I took the trim off but could not see where any water was coming in from. Any ideas Kwack |
Not trying to teach u how to suck eggs... but I sometimes have the same problem, I found that if I open the boot "quickly" when there is water on the boot lid it over-runs the rubber seal/gutter.
Just a possibity (?) Good luck, whatever it turns out to be. |
Kwack, the rear light unitss haven't been removed or changed at any time have they? I know that they can be real buggers to re-seal to the body with that thick black goo.
Just a thought mate. Cheers, Steve |
have a look in the side wells and under the spare, you might get a nasty surprise! i'm struggling to find the source of my leak.
|
It's normally the rear lights.

Kwack,

Glenn at TSL gave me a tip that might be relevant. There are two drains in the bottom of the rear wings ensure that they are not blocked. I had musty smell in a dry boot and one drain was blocked with manufacturers seam sealant and there was a small pond in the wing. I havn't been able to find any leak and think that it was probably a build up of condensation in cr4p british weather over the years (MY96) cos it's been bloked since new.

I had a combination of a leak around the rear light cluster (following an argument with a bollard - the new lens just needed tightening down to seal it) and getting too excited when washing the car and squirting too much into boot shut-line. M4 |
I had water getting into the nearside jack area, turned out to be the little vent leaking around the edges, took bumper off, removed vent and upon refixing siliconed around it :)
|
RichiW,
What little vent? I have been having trouble with a wet boot for quite some time - pretty sure it isn't the lights - they now have more silicone round them than seems sensible! A vent however sounds like a possible answer - just haven't noticed one - where is it? Neil. |
