Just received my info. / prices on the WRX STi UK and they have PI***D me off a tad. £25995 for standard and £27495 for the Prodrive Style.
When you consider the UK300 was £24995 standard and £26495 with PPP it seems a bit sh**e considering the STi reads better.

I would rather have known this b4 and might have held off for one instead of buying a UK300.

But as they say "life's a bitch!!"

Not much point going on about it though as my other half's ears have just stopped ringing from "why the UK300 is a good purchase"
She'll not be happy if I start already, only had my UK300 for 2 months.

sorry to add salt to the wound but since euro STIs are not limited (like the UK300) - you should be able to pick one up from Belgium or Holland for about 20,000GBP ... basically you could have got one 5 grand less than your souped up standard WRX.

Got shot of my UK300 yesterday. Dealers got it up for £26,995 so obviously feels sure they will still get a good price for it.
I understand how you feel about the STI pricing, but it is great to see IM come in with such an aggresive price. It will though hurt the values of the UK300, but by how much I'm not sure. The new STI does not have 18" OZ wheels and it doesnt have the full headlight conversion (although that a joke of a unit anyway).

With regards to getting a Euro Import for 20k, where ?. Litchfield are doing the std one for £23,500. Bearing in mind the UK one has the full IM 3 yr warranty, dealers will be happy to buy the car from you, and it has Trackstar(or similar) as std I cant see many people wanting an Import.

ironic isnt it, prodrive put an iffy lookig spoiler on the uk300, telling everyone how great it is etc, how the old spoiler was improved upon, and lo and behold, the prodrive sti7 has the old style rear wing:rolleyes:(unless i'm very much mistaken;) )

i think the price of the sti7 is tempting, particularly the euro import ones.

as many said, the uk300 is a rip off. if i had one? i'd trade it for a euro sti7, and sod I.M. i feel sorry for people who've blatantly been done[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

Yep but at least you don't have a STI badge on the car. A friend of mine who teaches sex ed couldn't stop laughing when she saw subaru are launching there own 'Sexually Transmitted Infection'!

buy straight from the european dealer and import it yourself - the dealer should be able to provide a standard 3yr uk warranty. trackstar can be fitted for around 500-600 quid. the only snag is you may have to wait for about 6mths as this is the time to order from subaru factory in japan. worth it though.

Don't get me wrong I love my UK300, even better than my MY99.

I'm just a tad naffed off by this price issue by IM, another calssic take the pi** out of the British motorist.

But then I'm one of those daft gits who falls for this. Each time I convince the other half that I am totally happy with my current Scoob, they bring out something different or extra. That's how they make their cash.

But if IM are ripping people off with prices, what are Mitsubishi doing ?. Ralliart selling that pig ugly thing for £30k. The cheapest EVO VII Ive seen is for about £26k. If you can buy a Euro Spec STI for £20k then the EVO VII is dooomed.

I'd like to see someone prove you can buy a Euro Spec one for 20k though. I'm guessing £23k with warranty and Trackstar.

I can fully understand how the guy's who bought UK300's feel,but for many others it is welcome that the price of the new STi is more competitive.The same thing happened to the guys who had just bought BMW's/Merc's just before they dropped the prices by 10-15%.Not good for them but good for everybody else.We all complained that the P1 was and the STi7 was going to be overpriced so can we complain that the price is now too cheap?
ps d'ont get me wrong though,if I'd bought a UK300 I'd be bloody miffed as well.

Dicksons of Dunblane (just opened for a week) have a new Evo VII in the window for £24,500.

Don't think we'll see STI VII's for less than £23,000.

I know Subaru claim 365hp for the new Euro spec STI, but will it really be any quicker than a PPP UK 300? Maybe UK 300 owners should wait and see what the new car goes like before they start drawing conclusions from now. The price of the new car seems a little low. I am a little suspicious and I'm thinking, but could be wrong, what has Subaru sacrificed to keep prices low?

Just think how p****d you feel when they release the World Championship STi with more HP and special paint/bodywork/wheels for 28,995 if Burns wins this afternoon......(think 22B maybe called 44S as is the rally car)

Mind you my next door neighbour paid £28K for a 328SE Touring and a year later with less then 10k on the clock was offered (and accepted !) 13.5K against a new 330 touring......!

I just see it this way, the UK300 is just a tarted up WRX (no offence to UK300 owners but even i wouldnt pay that much for a car that still has standard subaru brakes!)
Where as the STI has uprated pretty much everything (ok it still has 17's but i think they run better on 17's than 18's and you get Brembo 4 pots with it too! a definate improvement IMHO as i have them fitted to my MY00)
What we all want to know thou is when are Prodrive bringing out a PPP for the STI7 ;)

I think everyone is a little hard on the UK300! As a very proud owner I have to stand up for this excellent car!

The car industry is nearly as bad as the computer industry! - your model is out of date as soon as you take it home.

How long will it be before they bring out a special edition STI? then all those people who part with there hard earned cash on the new sti will be pi~~ed off!

Be happy with what youve got (- for the meantime!!!!!!) cos theres always someone with something better!!!!!!!!

My son, Chris has had the Focus RS on order for some time now but is getting seriously p****d off with the continual shifting of launch date (now 2nd quarter of 2002?) The STI has now got him thinking - right price, right spec., better performance etc. He has the cash waiting (lucky git!) Anyone know the likely delivery on one?

Prodrive version, is body kit spoilers and blue dials I think - Certainly not sure how it's £1500 worth, but each to their own. I think deliveries start end of December/ early January.

Ask for a discount though, the dealers still have a margin even if IM have had to reduce their's, so you should be able to get something off or a decent PX price...

The STi does interest me from the point of view that it comes well tyred, with Brembos, 6 speed box, possibly all for low under £23k from Europe. Remove some of the cats and it could be very tasty indeed.

In terms of changing however, whilst catted it still has virtually the same PWR (265/1385) as a MY00 PPP (237/1235), and nothing like the torque to weight ratio. Spoilt it for me now. Maybe I'll save my pennies.

everything else looks to be the same for the 2 cars.

Why would the EVO7 be doomed ?

for the most part many people who buy EVO's would NOT buy a scooby and vice versa... the price difference of a few grand doesn't come into it !

In any case they can be had for 25-27K if you don't go to Ralliart (who does ?). And the bottom line is technolgically its a more advanced car so you should be paying a bit more.

EVO 7.5 should be out soon so 7s are old news any way.

Not a UK 300 a MY00 PPP. STi weighs 1370kg not 1385kg as I stated above. MY00 1235kg. So the STi Type UK has 1bhp/ton more than a MY00 PPP (193 vs 192) and a heck of lot less torque:weight = less shove in the back = less fun in pure accelerative terms? But maybe the closer packed ratios, better brakes, tyres and chassis will make up for it?? But hardly a quantum leap in performance...

People obviously go to Ralliart to buy cars as its still there. No business would survive without selling cars.

My local Subaru dealership is also a main Mitsubishi dealership. When the EVO VI and the P1 were out the P1 was outselling the EVO by about 15 to 1, and the prices were the same.

You will have people in two camps, the official camp, and the import. Comparing the price on the official side, if Ralliart are selling at 30k, I cant see Mitsubishi undercutting it. So youve got a £4k difference, and yes it does make a difference.

On the import side, you have people saying you can get an STI for just over £20k, and the EVO VII for £24k. So still a £4k saving. People that buy these cars are enthusiasts, and sure some will buy the EVO VII for its hype and image. Some will like the extra 4k to spend on mods, and others will buy the car coz its the WRC championship winning car. Seem to remember many EVO owners saying they bought the car because it had just won the WRC. Go to the back of the class now boys :)

Just cant see why people would want to pay £4k for a car thats no better than the STI, unless they need electronics to help them drive :)
