06 WRX PPP: 310ft-lb via 5 speed..!
 

The 06 WRX PPP (2.5) produces 310 ft-lb (according to PD official figs). Does this mean that the 5sp gearbox has been uprated on the latest models..?

What I'm getting at is 'if' the g/box has been strengthened, when was this done..?
IIRC apart from the 2.5 engine and styling changes the 2006 spec WRX was the same as MY05 (which did have some gearbox & suspension changes).

Not on the WRX, it's a new 5 speed box with a few tweaks.

Can you strengthen the old 5 speeder by any chance?

Paul; do you know exactly what these tweaks are and were they part of the MY05 gearbox tweaks..?

You've probably guessed where I'm going with this, does my 05 WRX have a stronger gearbox than earlier models..?
