Looie 13 November 2006 09:51 PM

I just looked at my SN profile to see if I could turn these off, like I did with that Zoints thing, but it doesn't appear to have that option on these, so looks like we are stuck with 'em!! :wonder:

Unless someone can work out how to get rid of 'em that is ...... :norty:

What is del.icio.us?

del.icio.us is a collection of favorites - yours and everyone else's. You can use del.icio.us to:
  • Keep links to your favorite articles, blogs, music, reviews, recipes, and more, and access them from any computer on the web.
  • Share favorites with friends, family, coworkers, and the del.icio.us community.
  • Discover new things. Everything on del.icio.us is someone's favorite -- they've already done the work of finding it. So del.icio.us is full of bookmarks about technology, entertainment, useful information, and more. Explore and enjoy.
del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere, too. On del.icio.us, you can use tags to organize and remember your bookmarks, which is a much more flexible system than folders.
You can also use del.icio.us to see the interesting links that your friends and other people bookmark, and share links with them in return. You can even browse and search del.icio.us to discover the cool and useful bookmarks that everyone else has saved -- which is made easy with tags.

Digg is a user driven social content website. Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on digg is submitted by the digg user community (that would be you). After you submit content, other digg users read your submission and digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of digg visitors to see.
What can you do as a digg user? Lots. Every digg user can digg (help promote), bury (help remove spam), and comment on stories... you can even digg and bury comments you like or dislike. Digg also allows you to track your friends' activity throughout the site — want to share a video or news story with a friend? Digg it!

Can't find out what this is without signing up to it.

Read the post above by Flat Eric.....explains what they are for.

MrBush 16 November 2006 12:28 PM

There's 2 more buttons now?

The one with the tick and the cross on it (add to reputation)
and theres a little green one just below the location (i.e MrBush is on a distiguished road) ?:freak3:

This is getting baffling?

Anyone know what these ones are for? :wonder:

John1uk 16 November 2006 12:37 PM

i do :D

reputation is set be the webmaster for members to make a positive comment or a negative regarding a members post...

the little green icon box that you mention, says something about this member. the webmaster has a set line of info that shows regarding the users profile.......

its all down to numbers.......you get points for being good, you get points taken away form being silly/annoying/stupid etc.

eg when u click on the blue icon with a tick and an x in it https://www.scoobynet.com/images/buttons/reputation.gif

What do you think of MrBush's post?
I approve
I disapprove

i just said it was good......so your reputation goes up by whatever the webmaster has set the points system too :D

this in turn will change your reputation status...

Reputation is a factor in any online community where trust is important.

Examples include eBay, an auction service which uses a system of customer feedback to publicly rate each member's reputation. One study found that a good reputation added 7.6% to the price received. In addition, building and maintaining a good reputation can be a significant motivation for contributing to online communities.

Milamber 16 November 2006 12:52 PM

Prizes could be given out to the person who gets the most points during the year! :thumb:
