Is it just me of does Xmas suck?
For the last 5 or so years, Xmas just seems to be a bigger and bigger rip off....
So much infact that I truly believe it's a complete waste of time.... I mean, if you've got kids then great, bust your wallet....but apart from that it's just another two day bank holiday.... Am I the only one who sees it his way??? "Merry xmas" "Fcuk off and die...." "But you have to get in the spirit!" "Ok, mine's a JD...." I detest Xmas  |
Agreed, don't even buy presents or put a tree up (tacky ****e).... and I especially hate those idiots who decorate the exterior of their houses with Wilkco's flashing fairy lights and inflatable santa's...........
Baaaa-feckin-humbug..........:D However I do drink a lot during those several festive days............:thumb: |
Oh I agree.......drinking and watching re-re-re-runs of Back to the Future, Zulu and that xmas movie where Duldley Moore plays that elf....:lol1:
|
Personally I despise Christmas. However, having young children, it is quite nice to see them on Christmas day opening their pressies etc.
Hoever, once they have grown up........... ;) Geezer |
Oh I don't doubt it, it always puts a smile on my face when I give a loved one a present and the beam of pure joy that comes across their face when they tear open the cr@ppy wrapping paper....
I get an even bigger smile when they realise it's a signed picture of myself and when they are about to complain I say, "It's the thought that counts and that is priceless...." |

Well I like Christmas :)
|
Best time of the year, I love it!
|
To capitalise at work making money off the people who arn't there.....
I just think it's for kids and I feel sorry for my parents spending money on me, making their situation harder just because "it's xmas"......what a crock.... |
I see Christmas as a good excuse to have a holiday so this year for the second year running we're off to a lovely little isolated croft next to the sea on the Isle of Skye :thumb:
When we get back we'll be nipping down south to see my family for a couple of days and that's it. Christmas done :D On Christmas day last year we had a cheese sarnie and a token mince pie whilst looking out over the sea on the Trotternish Penninsula. We spent the whole day driving round the deserted roads of Skye, awesome stuff :thumb: This year we will be doing pretty much the same. We don't buy each other pressies and we've even managed to get our siblings to agree to the no pressies rule this year, bah humbug :D We are buying ourselves a new house though ;) |
I hate christmas.... I used to love it once over... always got myself a bottle of wine whilst me and the kids put the tree up and listened to the disney carols video ( only time it ever came out !lol)
over xmas 2000, my marriage began to break down and ever since then I've hated Christmas! But i've also moved away from my family, and am now 125 miles away. My kids are old enough now to do what they want to do at xmas... my eldest one( almost 18) still lives in Manchester with her dad and is torn over who to spend xmas with... to be quite honest, it really doesn't bother me where she goes for xmas, as long as she has a good day! No doubt my 15 year old will want to be with her b/f which will leave me, my partner and my youngest daughter(11) for dinner ! As for exterior lights... my neighbour has hers up in the back garden already:cuckoo: .. her tree is also up inside.:cuckoo: :cuckoo: she always puts them up around the start of november! mad mad mad!!! |

Christmas is great :)
Lots of parties Lots of booze Seeing lots of friends/family Nice food Time off work Making people happy with presents you buy them. Nice lights to look at General mood of people much improved. :) |
I can relate to the lights saga.....
Down my street there's an xmas light competition every year to see if they can land any light aircraft/747's etc And whilst it's good to see the kids enjoying it....the amount of attention it brings is never a good thing..... Now I have to pretend to enjoy xmas and my G/F loves it......I have told her to stay away from me because i'll only infect her with my sheer hate for this time of year.... |

first person who says..
'if I don't see you before, have a nice christmas' will get a poke in the eye. Sick of it already. Argument with the wife last night about being pulled all over the country seeing disperate factions of her family (people kept marrying her mother...then had the sense to divorce her!) Have a young girl so that ellement should be fun. you can keep the rest. Humbug |
Love Christmas. Hate outside lights !
|
Lots of parties - With numerous drink drivers
Lots of booze - See above Seeing lots of friends/family - Is that ever a good thing? shouldn't you see them during the year? Nice food - Fair point Time off work - Read previous posts Making people happy with presents you buy them - It shouldn't be about spending money and buying love Nice lights to look at - more power waste General mood of people much improved - Because it's false and really they're screaming inside |
Feel the Scoobynet love :D

Dave "What're you gonna do with a tree that big?" :D |
People start building up in August, its not that bigger deal, I get demands for a grand or more of the missus for pressies for everybody, we all buy each other crap we neither want nor like.
Dont forget to buy all your Christmas pressies from Woolworths so I get my bonus in March. |
It is supposed to be a time for family affection and for making children happy as well as a Christian festival.

I'm with you on this one Tripple O!
Humbug. |
I used to be anti-xmas but with my little boy getting older i'm liking it again :)

Xmas, Yule, Crimbo...etc is what you make it.
If you want to be dragged along with the hype, you will do, if you want to do it your way, you will do. There's no excuse for shouting the odds and calling it names. It's a festive holiday , there to be celebrated by those who wish to. If you do not wish to, then no one is forcing you to. But please don't disparage it for those who do. Personally, being Pagan, I celebrate it my way, quietly observing the season of winter as it closes in and giving gifts only to those I cherish. I will not be involved in the hype and commercial blow out. Yve |
