Hello lads Im new and needing some advice

Hi guys I hope your a fairly friendly bunch in a completely heterosexual sort of way, and no offence intended if you not either. I have a few questions I am hoping you can help me with since I will be making a large purchase soon in the next few months; however I want to get things right first time.

Q1

- My budget is about 15k for the car and about 2k for a quality LPG conversion. I really want the option of switching back to petrol for mind-blowing performance even though I intend to baby the machine. Can anyone

What exactly will 15k get me, do you think? And specifically what age model mileage vehicle do you think I should go for. Am sort of hoping to be able to afford a 1999yr model or later. And I would love something special like an RA model.

Q2

- What is the best way for me to achieve maximum value for money, in the long run (I am a tight arse). The options I seem to have available to me are as follows

1: Jap Import (Seem great value, my only concerns are getting it insured)

2: Private UK purchase (I might stumble across a bargain in lucky)

3: Cat D UK repair (Many people say they end up being stronger than new)

You could if you can stretch to 15.7k buy a brand spanker euro import WRX from Motorpoint: UK's No1 Car Supermarket - New and Nearly New Cars they're not the friendliest of people, a little arrogant but you get the car plain and simple, cheap, new, warranty, jobs a good 'un

For 15K you could get a 2003 (MY03) STI type UK - you are way over the budget for a MY99 - Unless you went for say, an immaculate P1.

Scoobynet and used car prices are sometimes they're own worst enemy:(

Oh please dont torture me with bargains like that mate  , I have got more than enough cash its just the money is tied up in a flat right now and it would take months to sell.

I'd go STi 8 type uk in crystal grey, loads of tuning potential, only requires a couple of body mods (front splitter, lowered, stealth dark wheels and llight tint windows)

Then if you want to go LPG you get a cool car with economy!! one thing to watch is cars do become sort of addicted to LPG, I had a coverted rangey and it ran brilliantly on both to start off with and then ran rougher and rougher on petrol as it got older!!

Its not advised to fit LPG to a Subaru i looked at this and no company would do it they all advised against it so i would forget the gas if you are bothered about economy you dont want a scooby

Or buy a £2000 pile of crap diesel to tool round in when you don't want to use the scoob..............like I'm going to when the new nipper arrives!!

dont eat yellow snow,,,,, tis sound advice that ;) lol

Tripple'O G 08 November 2006 03:29 PM

Or buy my 2001 350 WRX for £10k and save the £5k for something else!
I'll hold it for you!...the car that is....:Suspiciou
