OK, some questions. What pads and discs are used in the AP Racing 4-pot kit?
How much would replacement disks and pads cost and where to get them? who does the best deal for the AP racing 4-pot kit? |
Markus,
to my knowledge the four pot kit is not expensive min terms of consumables. I know there is a limited range of pads for the six pot. IIRC discs are under £200. Best bit is to speak to scoobymania. Look for a second hand 4 pot kit or put a post up in wanted. They do come up. |
Adam,
thanks. when mr xmas bonus comes through I might put post up about the 4-pots, or just sod it and purchase new from scoobymania, which I'm sooooo tempted to do, though a jastraction/movit porsche kit for 1500 ex vat is um, tempting, but I think I'm in dreamland really and will just go for the AP's, we'll just have to see. |
I am sure the movits are good, but AP and brembo still make the best brakes in the world. Dont think cos you dont go for the movits you wont be 100% satisfied.
|
very true. hell, I'd be happy with yonks old subaru 4-pots at the moment :D
think that I'm in dreamland and will probably just go for a godspeed/hi-spec 4-pot kit. we'll just have to wait and see. |
Hi Markus.
Most of this (and the alternatives) have been covered in this thread AP Racing brake kits sale (including prices). Mike. [Edited by Mike Tuckwood - 11/23/2001 2:02:37 PM] |
Thanks Mike,
one question, is the "sale" still going on? when does the "sale" end? I'm going to get into all sorts of bother if I purchase anything else for the car until after xmas. [Edited by Markus - 11/23/2001 2:05:00 PM] |
Hehe, "the sale" is running until 2nd week in January (for ordering purposes), this date was chosen to accommodate those who didn't get what they asked for from Santa and wanted to rectify that situation. ;) :D
Mike. |
Mike, thanks for that. sounds like I might be one of those people!
|
Oh, I see! Hi Spec not good enough eh? :D :D
|
oops! looks like I've been rumbled! :D:D
To be honest martin, I'm still considering Hi-Spec, and Godspeed, and AP, and Movit, and ........ my head is swimming with brake kits! think I need a nice lie down! :D:D |
Markus
I've just posted on 22b.com, I've found the thread i put up when I fitted my brakes, take a look, there is also a pic of the kit Ian does for 17 inchers. Hope this helps to confuse you even more. Ron http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=32486 |
Thanks RON, I'm suitably confused now ;):D

OK,
was thinking about the movit porsche setup, but to fit the 32mm calipers under my wheel I'd need to fit 10mm spacers, and longer stud bolds and new bearings (maybe) and I'm not 100 percent happy with this, so looks like I'm back to the AP kit. problem is, will it fit (mike, you have mail!) can anyone tell me if they have seen, or have, the AP Racing 4-pot kit under these wheels: http://www.markuswarren.co.uk/Artwor...ch/bh20002.JPG they are 16 inch Mim wheels, made for Mim by speedline, hence the 'by speedline' script on the spokes. seem to be fitted to early (93 - 95?) WRX's of both 4 door and 5 door variety. I know that subaru 4-pots will fit, as my friend had sti 4-pots under the same wheels, so how much bigger are the AP's than subaru items, both caliper and disc size??? just want to make sure that the thing will fit. |
where did u get your wheels from? they are the same on my wrx sti version iv type-r coupe.. i am looking for them in 18"
|
ChristianR,
They came with the car, which is MY94 WRX Wagon. seems that quite a few of the jap imports of our era came with these wheels. To be honest, I've never seen then in anything other than 16 inch. I do like them as they do seem fairly unique. 18 inchers would be nice though. Guess that you'd have to pop over to japan, or find some japanese contacts to find out what they are and whether there is a larger version of the wheel available. |
