bit of a long shot..... dvb for an Imac G3
Kinda long shot, I know, but I've got a great little G3 400 Imac (thanks Rich ;) ) - is it possible to run dvb on a USB1.0 or perhaps firewire or ethernet?
just a thought :) DaN |

ok - think I've found something.
An older EyeTV box. Comes with firewire rather than using the USB. Only want it to recieve an RFsignal.... Any ideas where I can get something like this (apart from Ebay)? Otherwise, is it possible to upgrade USB1.0 to 2.0 easily on an IMac? Not going to look too into this, as it's a mild afterthought, and I'm currently bored!! :D Dan |
Dan,
If the iMac had a PCI slot then you could probably stick a USB 2.0 PCI card in it, but from what I can tell, looking at my G3 iMac, there aren't any expansion ports of any kind in it, so there's isn't anything you can really do to upgrade it to USB 2 |
thought so :D
Looks like it's Firewire then..... OR is there a Firewire to USB2.0 convertor? Dan ;) |
Had a quick search and this was mentioned in an article. It's a USB 2/Firewire hub. What I'm not sure on is if you could connect the hub to the computer using firewire and then plug in a USB device and have the computer recognise it. I'd guess it would do that, otherwise the unit is a bit daft.

nice one - will have a mooch!
