HELP FITTING HID LIGHTS

Hi guys,

Just fitted a set of HID lights I purchased from GPR direct. Getting no joy when I switch on the lights, just get a clicking sound from the driver's side ballast.

Any ideas?

Sounds relay related to me! Can't help any further than that though.

Is it a scooby specific installation or a generic one? Does it connect the ballast power supply direct to the old wiring or is there a new relay fitted?

Scooby headlight wiring is dead odd, permanent 12V on one side and swtiched earth to put the lights on and off. So quite possible your ballasts are seeing the wrong polarity ie 12V on the earth wire and earth on the 12V wire.

Sounds alot like the problems I had when fitting my HELLA horns... wired it up all right according to the relay diagram and all I got was clicking, but no horn :brickwall

Had a fiddle and had to work out the relay in a different way using the old grey matter and a tester (essentail). Was an earthing problem, but the relay diagram lead me astray:nono:

Dunno what advice I can give only that you should 4get how the relay diagram is and work thru it step by step and just keep thinking how the relay switch works by the numbers and diagram on the actual relay itself and make sure all the earths are correct...

Got a earth/power tester?? I suggest you invest in one! :thumb:

I'm assuming that you've tested the unit straight from the battery, and that it works ok.
The next test is to check the polarity with a volt meter at the bulb connectors. Newage STI live is black, this may mean that you have connected the ballast the wrong way, unlike a standard bulb, it will only work if connected the right way round.
