over heating ej20 help!!
have reverse flushed the radaitor as recomended and the problems the same,
the top hose gets hot and the lower is still cold is there a thermostat on the ej20 engine and if so where is it located ? whot would you guys recomend as im not used to the subru engine's many thanks ant |
thermostat is bottom right as you look from front of engine...if not the stat it maybe an airlocking problem. have you openned all your heater valves up and given it a rev to push any air round? not familier with the approved subaru technique having not done this yet myself...but thats normal on other cars.
Have you also checked your oil/ headgasket as airlocking can result from headgasket failure. IS there any gurgling from the heater or loss of fluids? hopefully not!! |

ok guys thanks!!!
going to try the thermostat first the oil looks ok and theres no bits in the water that i can see see whot happens fingers crossed!!! |
be careful when removing the bolts for the stat housing that they do not shear. I personally also used new bolts when I did mine (Cant remember what size they are though, maybe m6 x 1)
It could also be down to a split in the radiator side core, this is quite common on the classics and the crack may not be evident unless water is hot and the system is under pressure. Are you losing water? |
