I know that this matter has had a lot of coverage in the past months.

Does anybody know if IM have admitted to any problems yet, or anybody had experience of dealers doing remedial work under warranty and thus setting a precedent?

as my bonnet looks like someone has fired s hotgun at it, any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

My last impreza was DBM, and did suffer a little from stone chips.. Not heard anything about Subaru UK/IM offering free resprays on that score.. I know they did something about the colour coded sill probs..

Oh, just found a couple of reason stone chips on the front of my P1.. armour-fend is looking like a definite must...

Another alternative is to but some motorcycle tank protector from a company called MPS - you get a sheet of clear protective plastic 250mm x 400mm for £12.99.

It's not going to be as good as Armourfend but it is a much cheaper alternative. I've just had a f/bumber and sill respray due to stone chips so am going to give the protective sheet a go.

A lot of people recommend Armourfend - it seems to cost about £200-£300.

Stef has a car-bra which is about £100.

Those seem like the two main choices.

AWD, sorry to seem so stupid - how does Armourfend work and what does that price include?

Personally I'm not in to car-bras.

I enquired recently about armourfend. For doing the whole of the front of the car, it worked out to be approx £560 incl VAT. Individual prices excl VAT as of last month were:-

Front bumper 149.95
Bonnet 99.95
Wing Ends 14.95

From the letter that I received, it's unclear if these prices include fitting or not. In the end I decided to put up with the inevitable stone chips & if they get really bad very quickly, then maybe have a frontend respray and fit armourfend.

Blow Dog had Armourfend applied to the total front and wheel arch cover of his car, and it cost him £200.

Gents,

Basically, wait until your car needs a front end respray ( 2-3 years old) and if badly chipped, get it done! Cost £300 fo Bumper, bonnet, vents and wings.

A good idea is to have headlight and fog light covers so that they do not appear chipped and therefore much older than the recent paint.

Thanks for all your help guys. I think that I'll probably end up going with Matt's idea - although being able to last 2/3 years might be wishful thinking. Mine needs it now and it's 18 months old.

That is assuming that I can get the colour - last time I tried to ghet something sprayed at the loacal dealer they couldn't get hold of the correct colour or code - bizarre hey!?!
