Hi guys, I am going down to hopefully buy this car on monday, What price should i be paying for it???? I am not too sure, he wants 10k for it but friends say not to go any higher than 8.5 - 9 ???? TOPS! He says it has 380bhp but i will get it on some rollers before i buy to check.

What do you think? Dont want to get screwed.................again!

if you ask me... i think ur mates totaly right... 8.5 i would say MAX !! but for a R reg + the type of miles hes done on there the car has 2 b top fukin nortch condition for 8.5k but if its got or needs work done to it den 8k all day long !

Best thing 2 do is go and meet him & go for a test drive and take some1 who knows about there scooby! Also find out if its got full service done !

i hope that helps ! :thumb:

PeeeP PeeeP over n out !

pippyrips 13 October 2006 05:29 PM

if you do buy it change the rear lights back to standard:)

BLACK V5 13 October 2006 06:09 PM

There`s an absolute minter in the for sale section for 10k. Only done 22k with full uk service history. That is a bit special. But for an average version 4 i wouldn`t pay more than 8k if that. For 10k you want atleast a nice version 5.

Hol 13 October 2006 06:49 PM

Mind you it is a 2.2 with Gems and 20G.

It aint standard!

BUT.... I would not pay a thing until you got more information on th engine and mapping from AndyF or ASP.

cutch 14 October 2006 01:51 PM

Thanks guys, really not sure now!!!! :wonder:

Yeah, I was going to get the lights done too, prefer the standard ones.

So the general consensus is 8.5 for it with 380 bhp?????

Gear Head 14 October 2006 05:53 PM

There is no 'hard and fast' rule for buying a modified car. You have to work out what has been spent, whether it has the 'correct' upgrades and whether it has been set up by a pro tuner.
To be honest, if it is what he says it is, then 8.5K is quite a bargin!

ScuuBdoo 14 October 2006 06:04 PM

its got a version 6 rear spoiler and 22B bonnet vents which he has not mentioned in the auction. I have to agree, 8.5K would be a bargain.

I paid 18000EURO for my 1998 Version 5 and it was standard.

I totally agree with above, its probably had £6k+ spent on the engine alone if what the guy says is true, but make sure you get it checked properly, go through all the receipts etc.etc.
380bhp sounds like a realistic figure, if its a clean, straight car then i personally think if you get it for £8.5k then you will definatly be getting yourself a bargin. Enjoy. :thumb:

cheers guys, i went and saw it, travelled 300 miles and put it on the rollers at scooby clinic! turned out it had had a smash at some point and it made 311 on the rollers, wasnt amused!

still looking!

cutch 26 October 2006 01:05 PM

i thought the v ltd didnt have as many goodies as the "normal" type r????

it has around 350 bhp but it doesnt have the redtop engine???? it is a v reg, i cant remember but is it not meant to have the redtop???? and is it a good idea buying this thing???

The V Limited is a special edtion to celebrate Subarus WRC wins IIRC.

I 'think' they have similar spec if not the same, spec as normal Type Rs.

Plus they have an emblem on the boot.

It should have the red inlet manifold being a STI of that vintage.

Link to said car mate?

Cutch, didnt u win the 1st bid, looking by the ebay name, didn ttu buy it then ?

ScuuBdoo 26 October 2006 04:19 PM

there are a few things about that car on ebay that worry me.

1) poor pictures,
2) blue seats---standard, blue dial surround---standard, yet this guy uses them as a selling point saying they are rare.
3) roof vent---standard on V-Ltd
4) and most important he says he is running 370BHP on a standard VF28 turbo?
5) thats alot of power with no front mount intercooler
6) 370BHP and no obvious brake upgrade!

i was thinking similar things on this one. dont know too much about the v ltd type r's etc, but no obvious big brake conversion etc could be a death trap. for some one who can afford such a supposed decent car, surely a 200quid digicam could be purchased for a better sale...

andy:)

rooferman 26 October 2006 04:42 PM

Theres no such thing as a version 6 v-limited anyway.....From version 5 onwards they were refered to as limited editions.Previous to version 5 they were v-limited..

Blue seats and blue dial surrounds were only on V6 WRC editions (type Rs, that is). So nothing dodgy there.

Don't know why it has a V4 steering wheel?

It also has the plaque, which is good.

Yes, I am aware of that. I meant that only the V6 WRC type Rs came with blue seats ;) :)

fatmanscooby 26 October 2006 06:06 PM

That is a Version 6 WRC Type R, they came with blue dash surround and some of the console bits are blue as well. That is a rare car only 1000 were made and there are only a handful known to be in the UK. They are great cars i have one:thumb:

fatmanscooby 26 October 2006 06:07 PM

And yes it should have a Red top engine;)

massive rev counter !!

ScuuBdoo 26 October 2006 09:34 PM

I won the first car, went down to hull from glasgow to pick it up and took it down to scooby clinic, stuck it on the rollers and it made 311, blew off the intercooler pipe and chucked oil all over the bonnet! (which wasnt the right one) it had signs of a previous bump and the turbo was iffy! So i walked away, pretty pissed off too!

scoobchrissy 27 October 2006 08:30 PM

This seems cheap, although it's got high milage, still seems cheap for a P1 why not ask him for more details....
