Mudflaps......
 

Bit sad I know, but cleaning my mudflaps is driving me to distraction:mad:

Is there a product that does this job - mainly tar......

Problem is glue & tar removers may attack the plastic. You could try a strong safe general purpose cleaner like P21S Total Auto Wash, but you might want to weight up the costs - P21S is £15 a pop and won't necessarily get all of the tar off, but how much are a new set of flaps? Autobrite do a great glue & tar remover that's generally kind to trims and bloody awesome at shifting tar, but I can't gaurantee it won't eat the plastic (we would spot test it first). :)

I have used white spirit on my Prodrive ones saved a lot of rubbing and has had no ill effect on them at all then washed them with P21S Total Auto Wash and covered with one of PB plastic cleaners

"but how much are a new set of flaps" Prodrive ones are £220 ish :cuckoo: but they do look good

used white spirit on mine and it seems to do the trick, but putting a wax on?? Is this the road side that gets all the grime?? Never thought of that will give it a try

I paid around £350 for the four, genuine STI ones, expensive but IMHO worth it, you can tell the difference between them and other makes

just seen the P21 is auto wash not wax, where can I getsome from Rich?

yep you can get it from PB it’s a strong citrus based car wash that strips wax off your car (well that’s what I use it for) its safe to use but strong so not a every week shampoo, it might be worth giving some wax/ paint sealant a go to see if it works interested to see what PB says on that would it be ok to use on plastic ???

To seal and protect exterior plastics I use Werkstatt Prime Acrylic - seems to work really well on all high gloss plastics. Less glossy plastics tend to be more porous, meaning you need to be more careful with what you put on them. I would try something like Werkstatt Prime Acrylic or the equivalent (AIO and Car-Lack68) first and take it from there. :)
