Nokia 8800
Has anone got one ??
How do you rate it as a small phone ?? I just need the basics as i have got a blackberry to do all the other stuff i need to do. Thanks |
I've had 2 at work. Nice phone, basic, but looks the nuts. Well built, but the battery life is shocking. You get 2 batteries with it and a desktop charger. There is also a flaw in the firmware that means sometimes they just turn off, something to do with reading the battery remaining incorrectly.
My 2p's worth! Nick |
Agree the battery life is its major downfall.
Nokia banked on the style of the phone being the hit rather than its features. If you just want to make calls and send texts it will certainly do you. |
Gay boys phone..... you should get one :D

I had one for about 18 months (got given it as a gift from Nokia when it first launched). For some reason my firmware (which was actually earlier than the ones they went on to sell to the public) was fine! It never rebooted or shut itself down and my battery life wasn't too bad either.
The 8800 DOES have it's downsides though: The sliding mechanism tends to get worn out over time and eventually begins to grate. It's pretty much impossible to clean it out too. The vibrate function is pretty much non-existent so you'll need to rely on turning the volume up! The alarm on the alarm clock is pitiful - more likely to send you to sleep than wake you up! Some people may find the buttons too small - the lower three buttons are too close to the sliding cover to be easy to get to and take some time to get used to using. It's definitely form over function but if that's what you're after, it's still the nicest looking phone from any of the major manufacturers for years IMHO. Even the packaging exudes quality! |
