Cabin Smells!!
Hello again all.
Would like to ask you all a question, I think I know the cause but wanted to double check with you guys first before I open the bonnet and waste my time. The weather has shown signs of cooling down, so I have been using the heaters for the first time (only bought the car in the summer). When the heat setting is at hot the cabin begins to smell similar to exhaust fumes. Is the cause of this likely to connected with the crankcase gas recirculation hoses and can it be easily fixed??? Please help, I think I may go blind next time I drive out!!!!!! Dan.. |

Sounds more like a leak from the exhaust, do you get the smell in re circ? and do you also have aircon?

exhaust fumes or burning oil?
|
Tonyburns - Exhaust deffo not leaking. Not sure if smell is there in re-circ, not checked that. Has got air-con.
ScuuBdoo - more like exhaust fumes than burning oil. ???????? |
Drivers side rocker?

Take off all your crankcase, rocker box (top of the heads) etc pipes and check for splits, leaking...These pipes on boost can leak oil onto the engine and you;d get a smell from that. You'll find your clothes will stink of engine if its bad...

Thanks again. Will look into it further this weekend.
Cheers Lads. |
