96WRX Tuning

Had my sub for nearly a week now and am well impressed with it.
But..... I'm getting used to the power.

The only mod at the min is a full ss exhaust with de-cat.

Now I know nothing about Impreza's so just wondered what the best route of tuning would be to get about 330bhp, oh and how much we talking?

Cheers
RACK

assuming you have a tdo5 turbo then bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump, better intercooler (fmic or more efficient tmic), uprated fuel regulator, aftermarket ecu (power fc). should see you get that amount safely.
To compliment this I would advise you to upgrade brakes, also an uprated clutch will probably be needed as well

Thanks for the quick reply mate.

I'm looking into the later 4pots at the min. Also seen a FMIC on ebay but not too sure about the quality of it??? I think it's got an up-reated clutch already, it was fitted at scoobyclinic not too long ago.

I know nothing about tuning scooby's as I used to be a Dub man and put all my time into tuning G60's.

try www.flat4online.co.uk for a fmic, quite a few on here have them and I think you get everything included to fit it.
If it has a newish clutch then you should probably be okay then. For the injectors I dont know if yours will be 380cc or 440cc, if it is 380cc then dont go upto 440's as there isnt a huge difference, go for 550's (besides its better to overspec as you will want more)

From what I know, the car is a late spec 260bhp model, so haven't got a clue as to what injectors it has.

I'll check the website now mate, thank for the link.

buy the nismo 550cc injectors from flat4 i have them in my car and cant fault them. With a power fc, bigger tmic, and a walbro fuel pump you should easily reach 320hp+ and all this will cost around £1300 new

jaytc2003 05 October 2006 04:19 PM

personally from what I have read and from various respected subaru tuners out there, I wouldnt buy injectors from flat 4 although I myself have bought other things from them.

Jolly Green Monster 05 October 2006 04:37 PM

injectors will be 380cc.. assuming it is a 4door and not 5 then it would have had the TD05 to begin with.. although you should check unfortunatly sometimes they have been changed (eh Jay :().

The injectors ImprezARex have were excellent when I mapped it regardless of where they came from. Although it is a good idea to make sure they have been flow matched.

Would a TMIC from an sti be a straight swap?

FOund a FMIC on ebay from 2FAST2COOL2.com but not sure if it's any good.

So, am I right in thinking that the best way would be;

Better IC, better fuel pump, poss better injectors and an ecu up-grade?

Jolly Green Monster 06 October 2006 11:40 AM

yes sti tmic is a straight swap.

Yes.. also possibly boost control needed. . but a cheap all signing all dancing solution is on the way.

Looks like I'm gonna be living on ebay for a while now till pay day haha!!

Just found an up-rated fuel pump for around £80 does that sound right?
Also seen a few good FMIC kits but not sure of the quality of them
So now just gotta look for better injectors and a power fc.

P.S. What's a power fc? (I'm just off to sit in the corner with a pointy hat on)

Jolly Green Monster 06 October 2006 03:06 PM

Power FC http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_ele...=197&pageNum=1

£80 is good price if it has electrical plug with it

power fc is an aftermarket engine management system. Its brill cant recommend it enough. Had mine fitted and mapped by Simon (Jolly Green Monster) and even with a small turbo Simon did a fantastic job with it, the driveability is unreal compared to standard and fuel economy is slightly better as well!

You could probably hit close to your target with your stock injectors but you would need to run them at a higher pressure but it would be safer to have bigger injectors running at standard pressure

Jolly Green Monster 07 October 2006 08:44 AM

The other option would be to fit a TMIC off a 97/98 which with a little work fit on..
