Spongy brakes....

.....my brakes feel pretty spongy to me. it had new disks and pads fitted in Jan and the fluid looks spot on...but you have to stamp on the brake pedal get get it to stop....any ideas?

Bleed air from brake fluid,
Change old brake fluid,
Spongy brake lines - change to goodridge braided lines,
Sticky pistons - overhaul brake calipers - or probably best option upgrade to newer 4 pots

could it be warped discs?

gaz-cole 28 October 2006 11:52 AM

warped discs sounds about right could also be a seized/sticking caliper did whoever changed the brake discs make sure the disc mounting surface was clean and rust free? as it only takes a little bit of rust dirt to cause the new discs to warp

I've known cars with worn or badly adjusted front wheel bearings cause the brake pedal to pulse when braking, especially if it its intermittent problem.
