The contractor who did my job before had it, 3 days a week 'working from home', 300 plus quid a day, paid for first and second line cover out of hours (I get it just for first), basically minding a reliable database, money for old rope.

As a serious answer, try approaching BT. They used to do Directory Enquiries by having people working from home with (what was then ISDN) connections to their network. I guess that any of the 118 directory services will be doing the same thing nowadays.

I don't know how flexible they would be with hours and you would always have to answer the phone while "on duty" but it may be worth investigating.

Do you know anything about cars and or vans?

If so drop me a line, we employ researchers who work from home, though there isn't a vacancy at the moment, we certainly have them periodically.
