poor kid! :nono:

mad_dr 02 October 2006 09:59 PM

Literally saw about 20 seconds of this, so apologies if I've got this out of context, but I saw a chap (presumably the father) claiming that if the lad died whilst running, he'll be a martyr...

Is that the new version of "my dad's harder than your dad"? Why are so many people so keen to see someone die so that they can scream 'martyr'? Is it some kind of bragging-right?

"If my kid dies, he'll be a hero" is the gist of that, I believe? Wouldn't it be better if you just did your best to look after your kids? IE, if you feel it's necessary to talk about what will happen if he dies, surely you consider it to be a possibility and should therefore prevent it?

Like I said - maybe I got it all out of context (was just nipping out at the time) but it's bizarre what some folk come out with nowadays.

Sounds like a well reasoned plan if ever I heard one

davegtt 02 October 2006 11:01 PM

Tottally unfair on the poor kid, after running them 40 miles he was about dead and they treated him like an amimal, not even that, he was like a dead piece of meat the way he was passed around :( saddening to see really.

EVOLUTION 02 October 2006 11:09 PM

:wonder: why which 4 yr old runs 40 miles ?

paulwrxboro 03 October 2006 01:06 AM

was on TV tonight mate 4 year old kid run 40 miles in india

SiPie 03 October 2006 08:35 AM

Oh....and he wasn't allowed any water as his 'guardian' (who personally I reckon was having his way with the poor kid.....hence the reason the kid was trying to run away !!!!!) reckoned that it would help his training

The 'guardian' was a pure c**t who was in it all for himself and should be shot.

The poor kid's bones, heart etc hasn't even grew to half their size, the damage will be horrendous later in life :(

too right! i didn't see this, but my knees are crap from too much rugby and half marathons when i was younger. he'll need surgery before he's 21!

PG 03 October 2006 10:04 AM

They'll have to catch him first :D

Nicci 03 October 2006 11:18 AM

It was not easy viewing.

The boy ran for 7 hours and was not allowed water??

I struggled to watch when the guy was running and the guardian was holding water in front of the boy, while he tried to grab it.

Very cruel, especially as the guardian did not mind if the boy died.

The boy looked a mess when the doctor forced him out of the run (good lady).

There must be some strange religious belief that I didn't understand.

davegtt 03 October 2006 11:20 AM

His excuse was the water would ruin the training hes doing. Made it all worse knowing the temperatures he was running in too, couldnt have been easy.

No, the thread says he runs 20 miles a day, he competed in a 42mile marathon and pretty much died of exhaustion after 40 miles without water in baking heat in India.
