golf of focus

Right due to it being to small and awkward to get in an out of the wife,s puma has to go. Now we,ve settled on 2 cars the wifes choice is a golf but i prefer the focus , Really we want a diesel and either a se in the golf or a ghia in the focus. Just wonderin on peoples views and experiences of these cars , The years we are looking at are about 98-2000 for the golf and about 99-2002 for the focus. I personally prefer the focus as the drive is better and the spec of the ghia is better. Also meant to ask if i was to get a petrol version what is the 1.6 like in these two models?
cheers for your views ste

Had Puma, 2xFocus and a Golf (MK V but driven the Mk IV).

Avoid the TDDI focus and get the TDCI if getting a diesel.

If you enjoy the handling of the Puma, the Focus has a somewhat similar feel and a far superior drive to a Mk IV Golf.

I would try to get a Zetec Focus, I would think the later models would have ABS, whereas our 1999 needed to be a Ghia to get 2.0 petrol and ABS. The Ghia I had had softer suspension and higher profile tyres, Zetec is a bit sharper but still comfortable.

As John says, avoid the TDDi as its the older engine, you want a TDCi, and it has to be the focus, better car :)

its the tdci we,ve seen . my view exactly with the focus being better but you know what woman are like:confused: i reckon that if i can get her to drive both then the focus should be her favourite hopefully

The golf will hold it's value better but who cares? it'll be minimal and the focus is a better drive.

easy. Get the focus, and this is from a VAG fan. show your wife this and she should then be convinced that you are making the right choice.
