Dash Flocking kits
has anybody ever flocked there dash in situe?
i cant be botherd to take it out :lol1: it was not a problem to mask it up while in the car and dust some black paint over at the beguining of the year, i cant see a problem flocking it in the same way? seams like everybody has bought a kit, but nobody has used it yet! |

Mine should hopfully be back within the next fortnight, i'll get some pics up once shes done :D |
thing about sending it away is the hassle, a spare dash would be required really, i have also been told that dash removal on the classics is a PITA, although i have not looked that much into it.
from what i gather, you apply glue to the dash and then blow the flocking over it, bit like a smart repairer will sort out cigarette burns on car seats? |
Micky why don't you have a word with Alyn last time I was up there he had a dash in which he had just got flocked.

i like to do things myself :)
i really hate paying for stuff that i can do myself, and it helps to pass the time at work when i am bored :D |
My dash is done, just waiting on the rest of my bits.
Dash panels are all done too, all painted matt black :D |
lets see some piccies!

Hey guys,
Heres some quick snaps of the dash panels. Originally i wanted these made in carbon fibre but it was proving alot more difficult than i first thought. So a spent some time getting them done in matt black.. Personally im really pleased with their new purposeful look :D The A pillar pod is custom made by a friend of mine, He is currently working on my steering cowling cover to incorporate my wideband and ACT gauges.(these will also be flocked) Sorry theres not much to see lads but im sure you can appreciate im waiting on a lot of stuff :D Attachment 49398 Attachment 49399 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ripplepod1.jpg |
nice -looking forward to seeing it all together

hi guys
flocking is certainly NOT a diy job!it is a very skilled process.Flock is micro fibres which are electrostactically charged to 80000 volts when applied to panels etc.the micro fibres basicaly stand on ther end thus giving the velvet effect. When done properly it looks the dogs danglers!my scoob rally car has the dash, glove box etc and door cards flocked. |

I would imagine the frost kit would be okay for small items but maybe not so good for a whole dash as i think you would have trouble getting an even finish. For the price (about £15iirc) youve not got much to lose to try it out. Keep us posted with your results:thumb: |

The dash in our rally car has been professionally flocked and it does look good. We have also done a few smaller panels with thr FROSTS stuff and it does look okay, but you can definately tell the difference between the two...

Ok well dash removal on a classic is a P.O.S so (Piece Of Piss). Don't know who told you otherwise. 45mins-hour out. 2-3 hours back in. Thats doing everything like a freak regards bagging each area of screws/bolts to have perfect refit and no confusion.

Only thing is Paulies is grey in colour.. mine is black.. yes it will look very very similar. Paulie also retrimmed his STI 9 wheel in suede, mine is being done in smooth black leather with red stitching and a red leather centre band on the top of the wheel. This should match my stock STI gearknob and handbrake perfectly. the guy trimming it is up north who specialises in trimming Porsches. He also done the whole interior of this months Performance VW mag cover car. Ben Radford's mental 340bhp 4x4 TVR interior'd Corrado!! I will have 6 Defis in place too, 3 in a dashtop pod and the other 3 in the a pillar. Then the wideband and ACT gauges will be molded into the steering column cowling of which is being done as we speak. Then once all that lot is flocked too it can start going back together :D |
:notworthy I'm lost for words this is going to be quite something
For anyone that has not come accross Paulie's car they will have quite a shock when they see all that on yours !! it always amazes me when I see it :D Wheels next then :norty: ;) |
