Young lad ran into the back of me this am

Must have been driving with his eyes shut

Anyway, he's mashed the rear bumper and doesn't want to go through insurance. Anybody aware of approximate costs of a new bumper, paint and labour?

Taken it to one place and they stated around £500. Does this sound about right?

By the way it's MY01.

Cheers!

i had some fool drive into the back of my classic at xmas didnt look to bad until took the bumper off and needed a new boot floor rear panel amongst other things he didnt want to go through the insurance and thought the car was only worth a grand and had a shock when the estimate came in at approx two and a half grand, any way make him go through the insurance and make him pay as if any damage is found later your fooked and if the place you pay to do the repairs do a crap job they wont give a ****

As Gaz says, make sure you get it looked at properly, i had a guy in a rangerover rear end me and he caused 3.5K in damage, he payed up too rather than going thru the insurance.
If your anywhere in the midlands i can highly reccomend Scoobyclinic for any sort of bodywork repair.

Dan.

Yep, called the insurance company, better to be safe than sorry.

I can go with their choice of repair specialist or use my own.

But scooby clinic is a few miles from me!

Thanks for your thoughts :thumb:

happened to me kid didnt want to go through insurance but i didnt want the risk! as it turned out there was damage to the boot floor, the backbox was also damaged even though you couldnt see it straight away the pipe had crumpled with the impact and lots of other bits needed sorting out, its not always as simple as just putting a new bumper on.

anyway dont worry about it i was told when you are hit in the back end there is little the other party can do to get out of liability for the accident and at the end of the day thats why we all pay for insurance!

also check with your insurance co. about courtesy car if you dont send it to there approved repairer as my insurance wouldnt supply me one as i sent it to www.scoobybits.co.uk

TBH if they hit you go through the insurance, ok you will pay out your excess, but then get it back at sometime, but you will have the peace of mind knowing all the correct things will be done to make sure you get your car back the way it was prior to the accident, he should've been more careful.
