suspension help needed

i had coil overs on my 2000 type r after a little chat with a member on here we both desided to have a swap so i gave him my coil overs and i had his bilstein struts and tsl lowering springs so that i could have a more relaxed ride we did the swap no problem i fitted them and the ride is exactly as i wanted but its sitting 3" higher than the tyre and its too high, have i done something wrong and how can i rectify this prob.i went to power station today and they want 325 plus vat to put lowered springs on it but i just cant aford that.

would the shocks have broken causing it to sit higher.

So is it not just that you had the coilovers set super low so it would look right before, then when you put the current springs on it went back to 'normal' ride height? I've got a set of Eibach lowering springs on and you can easily get your fist in the gap between top of the tyre and the arch.

The only cheap alternative I can think of if you want it lower, is to get your coilovers back, or to buy yourself a cheap set of ultra-low springs and fit them yourself. Something advertised to do over 50mm sounds like what you are after. The job of changing the springs is not fun by any stretch of the imagination, but if you want to save money...

I fitted my Eibachs myself and it was a day's work at my pace, probably a morning if you're determined. At least with the dampers only just having gone on, everything will be easy to crack off.

thanks mate i think ill have to do that,my mates also got a type r with standared suspension and its higher than his it maybe that i was expecting it to be lower.

Sounds a bit odd Daz. I've got Eibach's on mine with standard WRX shocks and I can't get my finger between the tyre and the arch, although I think this may be more to do with it being a poor choice of tyre size (it rubs the arches).

How much lower are the TSL springs supposed to be, the Eibach's are supposed to be about 25mm?
