Non turbo boost sensor???

Hi, this is my first post I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with a question. I have a non turbo Impreza and while changing the plugs today I noticed a boost sensor on the throttle body. I'm just a little confused as to why this is on a non turbo car!

Thanks in advance,

Alan:)

BTW, great site, I've been reading the odd time for a while and will probably go for a turbo next car change.

Unless it was a throttle position sensor..........

...or an idle control valve?...:D

A picture may help to identify it.

Thanks

Sorry, I didn't know anyone had replied, didn't get an email to let me know, have changed the settings now.

It says boost sensor on the top of it, thats the only reason I started to wonder about it, it's not the TPS as that had given trouble before and I'm familiar with what that is, and I don't think its the idle valve which is the cylindrical piece on top of the throttle body I think:wonder:

The "boost sensor" is a black box to the left of the idle valve and it says boost sensor on it! I'll take a pic tomorrow when it bright out!

Thanks guys,

Alan

It'll be MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor as the later sports used them instead of a MAF sensor like the older sports did for sorting the fuelling.

I know this is a late one but is there any reason a Subaru would have both a MAF and a MAP sensor with no turbo?
