2.5 conversion

I have a 93 wrx and a 98 legacy outback 2.5, can i use the block from the 2.5 with my heads etc to make mine into a 2.5 i have a remapable ecu and quite a few other mods as well. Are the pistons up to the job in the 2.5 block or do i have to replace them?any info will be great thanks

I think you'll find the legacy 2.5 block is weaker than the Sti version...I've got the latter which I think they call a 257 block. Not 100% on that though

Recommend you do pistons etc anyway if you're looking for over 400bhp on the sti block!;)

The 2.5 outback is a N/A motor with higher compression than the turbo variant, so the pistons in it ARE NOT suitable for use in a turbo conversion. (might be interesting to see how long it will run on boost for, before grenading itself though :D )

Block is open-deck, as opposed to the semi-closed on the 2.5 turbo motor.
