Does anyone actually want to own a Veyron?

Have just finished reading a road test of the Veyron, and it sounds as if it is the ultimate car, and will probably hold that mantle for many, many years.

If you were to be lucky / wealthy / crazy enough to own one, where do you go from there? What if you crash it? What do you replace it with?

Would owning a the ultimate car ruin every other car for you? And what would you dream of owning next?

Veyrons ok for the sports car, and i,d prolly have one, but what do you do when the girly want a genteel summer drive

Yeah I would buy one, but only if I had over 20 million in the bank.

gatty 24 September 2006 07:52 PM

didnt clarkson say the mclaren f1 could get to 100mph and the veron still beat it to 250 mph from stand still or somthing?

Generic User 24 September 2006 08:12 PM

I honestly couldn't imagine I could actually use the car. You could use it on public roads, but it's so leggy it would only coke up stuck in modern traffic. But if I was that rich I'd buy my own race track, however it's not exectly a track car either.

So maybe It would be ok to pose in, and take out on the occasional road trip to my Monaco summer residence. But other than that, I'm hard pushed for a need to own one. Maybe I'd have one for a few months just to say I "owned one" but then I'd swap it for well sorted Arnage T for long road trip use plus a Brabus/AMG CL55 or SL55 for round town, and a Koenigsegg or a Zonda for blatting round my private racetrack and occasional trip to the 'ring.

Oh, I forgot about the blacked out Range Rover so I can still do my drive by shootings, and RR sport for the missus's school run :thumb:

What I actually mean is, would you want to own possibly "the ultimate car" as by definition any car you owned from then on would be inferior......

Chip Sengravy 24 September 2006 08:28 PM

If you are rich enough to own a veyron, there's a fair to middling chance you know fcuk all about cars. So the questions' irrellevent ;)

Seem to remeber reading that it was if a Veryron was sitting stationary, and set off as a Mclaren F1 passed it doing 120 mph, the Veryron would still get to 200 mph first :eek2: :notworthy

PaulC72 24 September 2006 09:03 PM

I bet the insurers would remove the replace if written off in 12 months clause!!

Freak 24 September 2006 09:44 PM

It is vulgar- wouldnt have one.
Much better cars about

each to there own, repect that.

r32 25 September 2006 07:13 AM

Yes I'd just love a Veryon, saw an Enzo yesterday, sounded amazing .........

Nat 25 September 2006 07:26 AM

I understand how a Veryon is faster top speed than a McLaren F1 as it has a lot more power (don't know what the CDa is though), and how it's faster accelerating from a standstill as it has more power and 4WD but i don't get how it's faster accelerating in gear when the McLaren has a greater power to weight ratio? Anyone?

PeteBrant 25 September 2006 09:12 AM

I saw one the other week on the M25 - It had Saudi plates. **** taking a million quids worth of car on the M25 :)

It did look very nice in the flsh - much smaller than I imagined.

Any car that is built not for profit but for the techinical achievement has got to be applauded hasn't it?

Apparently they have sold 8 in the UAE already, 1 in the UK and 1 in the US according to local news, not seen one yet.

Lots of Enzos, Carrera GT's', 430's and other hypercars knocking about:)

Thinking about it, the owner would probably be a football player. :D

Nat 25 September 2006 10:36 AM

One football player in the UK already has one (Tim cahill), his wife got photographed driving it to the shops in Manchester.

RRH 25 September 2006 10:38 AM

There's a guy up the road from us with two of them- I was talking to him in Spar and he says he's bought one to sell on:wonder:

The one he's keeping has the reg number B1, which has got to be worth about £250k.

He also has an SLR with a plate that looks like SLR, not sure exactly what it is.

I did think for a while that he must be in one of those car hire clubs, but the cars keep arriving and never seem to go back.... bloody marvellous or what!

Sure it wasn't Bahrain plates? The crown prince collected one from london a few weeks back.

RoShamBo 25 September 2006 11:11 AM

Some prince of somewhere bought one for his son as a pressie for passing his exams.

Jerome 25 September 2006 11:20 AM

Saw one a while ago driving between Amersham and Beaconsfield. Even my gf was blown away by it.

I would buy one if super rich, but it would be an addition to a large pool of cars. I would also not choose any of the revolting paint jobs I've seen them in so far.

Nat 25 September 2006 11:21 AM

I'd like to see that a 100% Black one would look like. The two-tone paint jobs all look hideous. Oh, and i wouldn't have one.

Moley 25 September 2006 12:10 PM

There is one in the garage up the road from me. £1.2 mil if anyone has a spare bit of cash laying around

stilover 25 September 2006 04:52 PM

One big Euro lottery win, and It'd be one of the first cars I'd order.

Right behind a 911 GT3 (In white) and a Lambo Gallardo (Blue or Black)
