But the government usually loves taking my money :Suspiciou

You need to contact a Commercial Estate Agent, there are a few large companies who will deal with commercial property and land.

You may need to be a little more specific though with your request! ;)

AudiLover 24 September 2006 05:42 PM

I just wanna make a drag strip near london for people to hoon about in their cars, without having to drive all the way to the pod. basically a safe haven for boy racers to spend their wages.

richardg 24 September 2006 06:21 PM

like north weald you mean?
try railtrack - they are always selling long thin sections of land (not 100m wide very often but it does happen).
things to consider;
safe access/agress
planning permission - the neighbours will love you!
other services - ie toilets, drainage, power etc etc
insurance, insurance, insurance
parking - unless you're on a bus route or near a train station (PPG15 Transport ??), in which case you should note this as a positive factor on your planning application!

good luck!!

Good idea, although I might not have advertised it in your development stages! Sounds like it would need to be away from a residential area, try the M o D as they sell off land that could be useable......

john banks 24 September 2006 06:23 PM

So where are they going to queue, slow down, what will the access be like, will you get permission to use it for this etc? What will the neighbours to this strip of land think?

AudiLover 24 September 2006 06:50 PM

Thanks for the feedback guys. Some good points there that I didnt consider.

sarasquares 24 September 2006 06:52 PM

dont forget the H&S as well :thumb:

if you provide plasters you should be in the clear though :D

paul-s 24 September 2006 10:53 PM

would there be a lot of costs/difficulty in obtaining any form of permission to allow racing on such a piece of land??

The Chief 24 September 2006 11:16 PM

To be honest mate you've feckin no chance of aquiring such a piece of land without the big boys snapping it up first. even if you could i suspect it would cost millions of pounds (especially down London) an Acre of land (that you can build on) in my neck of the woods works out at 800-900k so imagine what london prices are like.

I had such a silly idea a few years back and my buddy buys land for a living laughed at me when i told him. He said you've no idea how hard land is to aquire.

As negative as i sound because i really think you've no chance whatsoever, i really hope you prove me wrong and suceed, we need more of this thing in the country

I quite fancy starting an airline. Anyone know where I can buy a plane? Oh and how do you fly one?

fatherpierre 25 September 2006 12:13 AM

LOL.
You haven't allowed for the amount of land you'd need to support your venture - parking, access and safety.

1/2 mile long x 1/2 mile wide.

Enough to build 1000s of houses on. In London, that's worth 100s of millions of pounds.

user guide included (plus they have those stickers with all the usual useful info on the sun visors). :thumb:

suprabeast 25 September 2006 01:00 PM

And you'll need well over a 1/4 mile to allow for your 100 mph vehicles to stop!

You'll probably need realistically about 12 a mile ! Plus as others have said, car parks, planning permission, no neighbours etc!

Scooby-Doo 25 September 2006 01:09 PM

You have more chance of renting Heathrow on a Saturday afternoon.

movi-star 25 September 2006 01:19 PM

I was looking at setting up a Inter Galatic Space Rocket launching service around the Mayfair and Park Lane areas, only need about 5 square miles of land, anyone know where I could get some, has to be near Mayfair. I have max budget of £3.50:lol1:

Someone mention Heathrow? :)

What do you want it for? I can probably give you the landing runway for 50 secs between VS009 and BA014 around 3pm. :thumb:

AudiLover 25 September 2006 05:12 PM

Building a runway on marshland is not an ideal foundation.

Nat 25 September 2006 05:40 PM

If you build it they will come ;)

LOL. if you could find something, i'm sure it would be very popular. airfields are always popular for this sort of thing (probably due to noise etc being a common occurence already). think biggin hill, north weald etc etc (obviously silverstone was an airfield).

there is an old airfield in boreham (near xtreme scoobies), jsut outside chelmsford. i think ford own it and used to use it as a test track - that's the sort of thing you should be looking for.
