BEER/LAGER CONNOISSEURS

Just tried a very nice Chinese Lager. Its called HARBIN, came in a 600ml bottle, is 4.8% vol and is imported into the EU by Anheuser-Busch. It has a mild yet distinctive taste and certainly hits the spot. Due to our influx of Polish "friends" I`ve been given many types of Polish lager/beer and this got me into trying different brands rather than the usual Stella/Bud. Anyone else tried anything out of the ordinary? :)

Drinking a can of Bud at the moment :thumb: its my first & last one tonight. :)

For a real treat try Spitfire from Shepherd neame,Britains oldest brewery,:thumb: this is what beer should taste like, after drinking "real" beer you will struggle to put the run"o"the mill stuff to you lips again.

Most of the supermarkets stock what they call speciality ales and beers, give some a try ,you will not be disappointed;)

Can't do bottled real ale, love the proper stuff though. For a bottled lager (or tap for that matter) "Nastro Azzuro" is the finest by far :D

It's a Peroni (Italian) that is superb, as long as you enjoy a "dry" taste :thumb:

try some Beer Chang, 6.4% in Thailand but reduced over here to 5.0%.

Lovely stuff.

Dark and quite a strong and mature taste... Nicknamed 'wobbly' for obvious reasons... :thumb:

Proper bud or that american crap?

AndyC_772 23 September 2006 08:43 AM

Spitfire is good stuff, but like most real ales it's spoiled by bottling. I've never really worked out why.

We now brew our own, which means a fresh barrel of real ale on tap at all times - it doesn't get much better than that :) (I must admit to being partial to the odd bottle of Budweiser Budvar, though - not that American stuff brewed with rice).

I like Australian lagers like Toohey's (not Fosters or Castelmaine, not many Ozzies drink that either!)

Damn expensive to get it over here thogh

j4ckos mate 23 September 2006 10:56 AM

Nastro grand riserva is the one to drink not the other stuff in the green bottle. Leffe is OK but not in the same league as the grand riserva.

Kasteel cru is ok as well.

King RA 23 September 2006 06:01 PM

2nd Peroni (made by Natro Azzuro)
