Women?

Firstly..no offence to all the Women on theis fourm...

I have had the following happen to me at the time of a car sale..2 Different cars...
  • Selling MY98 - Guy loves the car, show it to his mechanic (he likes the car). Comes down the next day with his girlfried to pay me and take the car away...She goes..oh i thought you said the car was Blue! (Sale Lost)
  • Selling my STI - Guy comes by train loves the car, its cheap. Goes away and his wife says she wants a Jap import because the water injection for the inter cooler is automatic...
Do guys really let women decide what car they can or can not buy...:wonder:

Just curious...

think the problem is, that some people dont seem to have control over there own money you dont see blokes complaining about the colour ov a car your girlfriend/wife wants cos you no its not worth the ear ache, so in a nutshell if youve gotta ask it she likes it YOU SHOULDN'T BE LOOKING AT IT BOYS TOYS ARE BOYS TOYS AND BOYS WITHOUT TOYS ARE GRUMPY OLD MEN

andythejock01wrx 22 September 2006 12:02 AM

Were the girls especially bonnie ?!

Very well said, my missus hated the gold rims that came on my scooby, but i told her not to worry as she would never be driving it
So the pants of power were all mine for a minute or two :lol1:
dosnt last long tho :thumb:

chocolate_o_brian 22 September 2006 07:35 AM

i get that off my boss, erm missus. my ols sport was a nice looking car till i crashed it and i then bought a older wrx for good measure. "ooh i dont like silver cars" she was moaning... but i didnt catch the rest of her moand as the exhaust was far too loud for human conversation, so i kinda won that battle. silly bitch that she is sometimes... lol:lol1:

I am one of the lucky ones.

My girlfriend loves the car. Infact i keep getting asked ''when are you going to get the Apexi then?''

One of my x-mas presents from her last year....crystal sidelights and indicators.

Good girl!!!

:D :D :D

WR1Nikki 22 September 2006 10:40 AM

I used to go with my ex to buy his cars as i spot things he doesn't, but ive never stopped him from buyin a car coz of its colour, its usually coz ive spotted a dent that he didn't or somethin like that. At the end of the day its the guy whos gonna drive it not the bird, so if she knows nothin about cars he should leave her at home!

Just curious...

partnership with a women is all about compromise...

It sounds to me like these guys were 'allowed' to buy a scoob as long as it fitted the girls criteria.

When you want something that you know they are going to object to, you mentally prepare for a concesion which means little to you but gives them some control in the negotiation process:

eg1 - when I wanted to buy a Scoob, I would have loved an STi but as I was then doing 120 miles per day round trip, the running costs would have killed me therefore I settled on an WRX with a view to mods.

Now my wife hates Scoobs, so when I said I wanted one, she said 'well don't think you are getting one with those silly wings on the back' to which I replied 'ok, that's an STi dear, can I have an Impreza if it doesn't have a silly wing on the back' reply 'ok as long as it's not blue'

eg2 - She wanted a new house, I wasn't fussed on moving.

I wanted a Plasma, she couldn't see the point.

I said 'can we have a plasma if we move to this house you want?' 'OK' she said no arguement.

In summary, it's all about negotiation, work out what cards you don't mind losing..

Now back to the example above, it looks like these guys made the deal, but then tried to push their luck by 'forgetting' the criteria. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't (as above)

end of lecture:lol1:

My dad summed it up the other day.....

Was talking to him about how my friend has changed now his girlfriend rules his life and he said:

"I dunno whats wrong with all you blokes these days, you need to grow a set of b*llocks"

jaydut 22 September 2006 10:56 AM

i just went out and bought mine and the missus didnt know untill i told her the day before i picked it up:thumb: but i think deep down she likes it because ive seen her lookin at others on the sly obviously making comparisons and i do get the odd question fired at me "is that the same as ours?" notice the ours in that question.so in conclusion i reckon she is just pissed off because i didnt involve her in the buyin process;)

or she really does hate the car.

Freelance Badger 22 September 2006 11:13 AM

Be your own boss. I went and looked at a new house - made an offer on it - had it accepted and only then told my girlfriend......

WRX RCY GEM 22 September 2006 11:24 AM

I don't think I have ever told my husband what to buy or what not to buy, we sort of have the same tastes really.

When buying the scoob, they had a UK and a Jap car at the garage, hubby took UK for a test drive while I looked over the Jap and vice verser. He came back and said he prefered the drive of the jap and I said I didn't think much of the UK. So we were both happy.
Then I bought him a FMIC for his birthday and he bought me a decat. ..... thats are thinking really ,neither of us want anything for ourselves just mods for the car.

scoobynutta555 22 September 2006 11:38 AM

I wear the trousers in this house. I even choose which car she drives. Any bloke letting a woman choose their car for them is the kind of bloke that gives the loosest sort of handshake and sits down for a piss.

jaydut 22 September 2006 11:39 AM

  i like it:thumb:

Lydia72 22 September 2006 11:41 AM

A few months back we went for a test drive in an Evo, hubby had a drive while I sat in the back, the dealer kept asking me if I wanted a go and I told him my opinion wouldn't matter - if I had driven the car and not liked it but my hubby did then he would still have bought it anyway. As far as I am concerned he is a big boy and capable of thinking for himself, as long as we can afford it then he can buy what he likes, works both ways - I couldn't be with a bloke who told me what I could and could not do.
Possibly some fellas use their women as an excuse not to buy something so they don't lose face? My ex didn't like going out drinking with his mates so he told them that I wouldn't let him (complete lie) rather than tell the truth that he wanted to stay in and watch The Equalizer.

Varboy 22 September 2006 11:44 AM

Equalizer wins hands down every time, class:notworthy

jaydut 22 September 2006 11:49 AM

my missus says i was selfish to buy my scoob yet ive never stopped her doin anything she wants (shes away now on her 6th holiday abroad since jan!! and is goin away again in oct) she says we cant afford it yet i point out that we can (ive made sacrifces myself for this car) as we have owned at one time a voyager and apart from insurance the day to day runnin aint that much difference in fact the chrysler was thirstier.

PaulC72 22 September 2006 12:39 PM

My wife loves the car and has even asked for a drive at which point I suddenly went deaf mute LOL.

WHEELSHOP0_0 22 September 2006 01:29 PM

My wife hates my car, but the girlfriend loves it:lol1:

Am I sure she does'nt know my screen name?(probably wouldnt stand up in court).

theboy 22 September 2006 01:35 PM

My wife hates the car, she thinks there is only certain types of people that drive them. Took her out in the one i intend to buy and she still hates it. WHo will win i am not sure!!!

Varboy 22 September 2006 01:53 PM

most women don't understand scoobys, if they made them in pink with a drop top then things might be different

The other angle
My hubby wasn't too sure about the colour, it's a WR1, so I took on board his comments. Then bought the car :D
