If anyone wants to have their ECU reset,

Hi, if anyone wants to have their ECU reset, I have the Tactrix openport cable and would be more than happy to do that for you....or if you want to pull some logs or whatever.......I'm starting to get into the workings of remapping etc so.....at the small price of a beer and some friendly chat or if you prefer without the beer as you are driving.......
I'm in East London, Dagenham rm9.

What does re-setting the ECU do?

This applies to the newage Imprezas as they do not have the cables under the dashboard like the Classic to reset the ECU. You can also use this cable with the right software to reset the CEL light and find out which sensor etc is causing the light to come on.
Resetting the ECU will make it "learn" again and may possibly improve performance.

Extreme care should be taken when hooking up to ECU as they can easily be damaged.

As the guy above said :) :norty:

You shouldn't really need to reset the ecu on the newage cars as it adapts to changes such as different fuels very quickly. The older ecus in classics are different and don't adapt as quick.

You also want to be confident that your maf sensor is fine before deciding to reset the ecu. If it has been failing over time then the learning in the ecu may be compensating for it, resetting will clear this learning and put everything back to the default settings and can result in your car running lean.

What if first....check trouble codes......if none then reset?

Would that be a better procedure?....lol
