Can you put V power in an ordinary car?

Just wondering if its safe to put V power in an old ford escort (80,000miles) thought it might help clean the engine a bit as its missing occasionally?

dont see why not - although the fuel will be worth more then the car :D;)

Of course you can but you will waste your hard earned for nothing.
At my local Shell outlet the guy behind the counter was telling me how countless old folk fill up their treasured Fiesta's and the likes with Optimax / Vpower not realising what its costing them over regular unleaded.

Cheaper to buy REDEX for that car than putting V Power in.:wonder: :wonder:

I put optimax in my sheddy escort (1.3 G reg) when I had it. Made up for the bore wear!!!

You can but the benefits are nominal over normal unleaded, ie your wasting your money if you do.
I always remember reading about super unleaded in my mondeo hand book, says you can but you gain nothing for doing so, hey straight from a major car manufacturer.

THanks for the replies its my GF's car which generally goes really well to say its done 86000 miles just thought if she ran it on V power for a couple of tanks it might improve performance a bit and stop the ocaisional miss. I hope my WRX goes as well when its that old (though I probably wont keep it that long!)

good point might get her to try that instead was only planning on trying one or two tanks of V power as it claims its got some lubrication properties?

"v" power

does the "V" stand for viagra? Sounds like it might get a clapped out old motor running better!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're clutching at straws here. What the car needs is a damn good service! and I think you know it? 86k is not an enormous mileage by todays standards for a car that is generally well looked after. V-Power is not the elixire of youth, if it were, I'd be drinking the stuff myself! (especially if the V did stand for Viagra!)

Safe but pointless. If it's missing then there's other problems you need to address. When was the last time it had new plugs? What condition are the plug leads in?

Sometimes the head can get a bit carboned up if it's driven gently all the time, especially an older car. Make sure it warmed up, add some Redex and give it a damn good thrash :D

thrustylusty 17 September 2006 01:54 PM

You may be right both car & I need a damn good service!

thrustylusty 17 September 2006 01:55 PM

And a damn good thrash!
