Car you bought for the sound...

lol Has to be the scoobies I've owned (making the mistake of fitting equal length headers... then removing the same day... priceless)

Top of the list... VR6 Corrado with induction kit... 5,000k i third gear.... :notworthy

LG John 06 September 2006 11:28 PM

S2000, T1-R single exit exhaust, 5999rpm is fun, 6000rpm has a funny click, 6001rpm is sex on the ears :D

AudiLover 06 September 2006 11:42 PM

Volvo S40 2.0 6.5k rpm, sounds like its about to blow up :D

Edcase 06 September 2006 11:52 PM

My RS6 sounds nice, however my Scooby with equal headers sounded like a Jap sports bike, and the triple dellorto 40mm carbs with trumpet intakes on my Datsun 260z sounded like they were sucking the road in in front of you!!!

Terminator X 06 September 2006 11:52 PM

Honda ITR DC2 when in VTEC zone ... used to scare the old fogies (spell?) near me when punting past them!

TX.

saying that, I'm quite looking forward to the noise my next anticipated car, the 156 GTA makes...

DavidBrown 07 September 2006 12:21 AM

Mercedes S600.. the very faint sound of a V12 and nothing else through the double glazed windows !!

fatherpierre 07 September 2006 03:45 AM

I've just acquired a 1979 Merc 350SE.

Beautiful V8 rumble that turns heads and makes me hit the loud pedal for fun:).

Lovely.

brybusa 07 September 2006 08:57 AM

Alfasud ti...with an Ansa exhaust..the original boxer rasp..I had one of these when I was 19 and used to drive around with the windows down at night listening to the noise..

Straight 6 BMW's also sound fab...

richs2891 07 September 2006 09:18 AM

Alfa 33 - start of the boxer engine thing for me !
MY00 Scoob - standard
MY02 Scoob decat centre and scoobysport
Honda Civic Type R with either simota induction kit on or Icebox on - sounded great when in the Vtec Zone

Currently own - and bought for noise and praticality
MY05 Scoob with decat centre and up pipe, sports cat down pipe - scoobysport exhaust
my kick out about old Range Rover (V8) Vogue SE complete with gas conversion - but sound better when running on petrol!

Richard

jamin 07 September 2006 12:53 PM

My DC2 with full stainless including decat and Apexi induction kit..sounded like a motorbike and once somebody told me it made the hairs on the back of their neck stand up...if only it went like a motorbike ;)

Andy M3 07 September 2006 01:39 PM

My current Volvo T5. Apart from the easy tuning for lots of :D :D :D

That lovely 5 pot is a fringe benefit ;)

Duck_Pond 07 September 2006 01:52 PM

Not bought one, but my brother has had a few V6 MGs over the years as company cars, and they sound superb. Still prefer the burble of my Scooby though... :)

g@ndy 07 September 2006 01:57 PM

Street ported Single turbo RX7 with external wastegate and screamer pipe:thumb:

J4CKO 07 September 2006 05:48 PM

Audi 100 H reg, 2.0 5 cyl with the cat removed, sounded fantastic.

Daz34 07 September 2006 07:00 PM

The Clio V6 255 is the best sounding car I've been in to date and that includes, loads of Imprezas, TVRs and and the fantastic S2000. I was blown away by the noise

Sleazy Badger 07 September 2006 07:04 PM

TVR's always sound great, as do Scoobs. But the winner is the Ferrari F430 with Tubi exhaust. Check it out on metacafe.com (search for Tubi) :eek2:

v5 man 07 September 2006 07:27 PM

My old Mk4 Golf V5 with full stainless exhaust. What a noise!!! Better than a TVR IMO:)

staffs Mike 07 September 2006 08:37 PM

I was just walking on a country lane..i heard a v8 rumbling in the distance. Took it about 5 minutes from when i started hearing it to it actually getting to me...when it finally got to me....FOOOOOOOOOOOOKIN HELL!! gorgeous sound and so freakin loud lol.

it was a V8 Vantage btw. :lol1:

CrisPDuk 07 September 2006 08:48 PM

Peugeot 605 SVE-24, a 3 litre 24V V6 banging out 200bhp.

Sounded almost as sweet as an Alfa V6:thumb::cool:

The car was a piece of sh!t, lumpy, notchy gearbox terrible handling & brakes that were either on or off:( It was one of the worst cars I have ever owned:nono:

But my god what a noise:D

My XR4x4 was bought partly because of it's sound too:) and the difference between the two is, eleven years later I still own it:D

scoobytyson 07 September 2006 10:54 PM

My m3 e46 now ive put milteks race cats and supersprint lightweight race rearbox on, sounds awesome at full chat

paulwrxboro 07 September 2006 11:04 PM

RMA26 08 September 2006 12:34 PM

I owned two 2.9's in the early 90's, one had the turbo technics conversion. Both cars had full Scrorpion exhausts (They were cool then) and they sounded awesome, the turbo version used to pop and bang on the overrun.

Cheers
Lee

Squizz 08 September 2006 01:58 PM

I bought the car... TR7...Purely to add the sound later ;)

Courtesy of Mr. Grinnall, life improved utterly with the installation of a Rover V8 and a stainless steel exhaust system with a large single bore backbox.

:D:D:D

Ah, my beautiful yellow shouty cheese-wedge...

RAF1 08 September 2006 04:03 PM

currently the scoob with the blitz nur spec on it but a few years ago a CRX Vtec with an Induction Kit / SS Exhaust - use to scream every time it hit 5k rpm :)

Raf.

Mines a 2.8 with the original Bosch K injection & a Janspeed system. It doesn't need a turbo to make it pop'n'bang, the overfuelling when you lift off sorts that nicely:D
