local shell garage closing :(

went till fill my scooby up today at my local shell garage in hadfield..
after filling her up i went to pay and asked when they are getting the new v power fuel in..well to my suprise they told me they wont be selling it and they are closing and changing to bp in december:razz:
well im gutted now cause ive gonna have to drive 7 miles to get to the nearest shell garage in hyde..
could someone let me know if full tank of standard unleaded with a full bottle of octane booster would be ok to run my car on?
it is a import and ive been told to run it on nothing but high octane fuel:wonder:
cheers

Hadfield? Isn't that The League Of Gentlemen Country??
Are you local?

Barnesy 31 August 2006 07:31 AM

Bugger this is my local. On the plus side Hyde is normally cheaper.

Why don't you just use the new BP? They do SUL as well you know. :)

BP Ultimate isnt good enough for a JDM car, let alone an STI: local or not!

classic_sti 31 August 2006 11:17 AM

yeah i think im gonna stick with optimax (just done a quick search and read up on fuels)
the only thing is if i ever wanna drive far and my fuel gets low and i cant find a shell garage what do i do?
i guess ill have to stay LOCAL :freak3:

This is my local Shell Station too. I am aware that they are changing to BP in Decemeber (was told a few weeks ago) but didn't realise that they are not going to stock V - Power in the mean time!:(

Where is the Shell station in Hyde then?

If you are truely LOCAL you'll never want to leave anyway!;)

i think its just off the main street near the fiat garage (Stone Acre) ..

Yes trying to find a shell garage when I take my scoob on Holiday can be a problem. Although Tesco 99 should be good enough as well?

There's some BP fuel in some garages that are higher octane than Optimax (btw - no such thing anymore ;):D) but you pay through the nose.

Fill up at Shell when you're near one but I doubt putting some BP SUL in from time to time when you're cut short will do too much harm, keep a bottle of octance booster spare in the car for those occasions.
