Green Panel filter fitment
 

Just bought a Green panel filter for my 55 PPP WRX. The instructions seem to suggest cutting some of the nobly bits of the bottom black plastic frame to make a flush fit. Has anybody cut theirs down as it does seem to sit pretty tight with no alterations.

Also - I have been recommeded to have a remap after fitting the panel filter... is this really necessary?

I have a Green panel element in a MY00 Turbo. I trimmed the nobbly bits and the panel sits nice and flat in the airbox which makes for a good seal between the two halves of the 'box. I didn't try installing it with the nobbles in place, but you just need to ensure they aren't too tight, such that they distort the element.

No need to remap after installation. Potential gains from the panel in isolation don't merit a remap. A proportion of the limited gains will be realised by the standard map in any case. To be sure, you may want to reset the ECU, but even that is not essential.

yeah i remember that my filter needed some serious triming before it would fit.

Sorry for ignorance here but how do you reset the ECU?

Mine wouldn't fit without some serious trimming, achieved with a stanley knife. No need for a remap and I wouldn't worry about resetting the ecu unless you can be bothered.
