help me decide....

been looking at subarus for ages...
was looking to spend about 5k, originally intended to get a type ra for the sheer performance, but dont think i can bring myself to spend 5k on a 10+ year old car, also i drive 25mile down the m/way to work everyday and the 19mph per 1k rpm in 5th would be a killer i think

so that leaves the normal wrx or a wrx sti... what i'm looking for is as new a car i can get for the money, ive got it in my head that it has to be an STi but is there really THAT much difference in performance/handling/reliability?? between an older sti or a newer wrx, not even sure if there is much price difference there....

just looking for some opinions from owners!
thanks

It is about newage cars. I'm not too sure about classics so you will need some others to comment on those but I thought it might help a bit.

If you've considered an RA, then performance is important to you. A WRX might not hit the mark. I'd vote for the STi. Check out pistonheads for prices, see what 5k gets you.

never going to be able to afford a newer sti, but am i right in thinking a newer wrx (98ish)would be the same power as an older sti (95ish)?
