Recommendations for a Supercar driving type day anyone?

One of my best mates is getting married and his wifey to be wants to buy him a driving day as a gift, ideally driving several supercars....willing to spend 3 to 400 pounds, maybe more for a good day out. She's asked if I can help...so calling the power of Scoobynet....:D

Any recommendations where to start - Lives in Shropshire (thats the middle bit!) but willing to travel anywhere (within reason!)

I would advise against the Ferrari day at the Seven Sisters track in Wigan which is basically a karting track - my mate won a comp and in the end spent less than 5 minutes in a 355 - avoid!!!

Most of the 'experience' days out in 1-200 range are complete garbage and not worth the money. Ive done the Palmer Motorsport sensation as have quite a few others on here, its about £650 for the day but it is a full day of driving, not the half dozen or so laps you get in a ferrari where they want you to potter along in it. O no, you get to drive the ar$e out of everything (although the £50K collision damage form you sign before getting in an FPA means you take it steady in that!) and includes breakfast, lunch and trophy hand-outs at the end. Very very well organised its is worth every penny.

I would agree with Gary - the Palmer Motorsport day is excellent. I doubt any of the supercar days will let you reach 150 mph + which you can do in the Palmer Jaguar! :)

I have heard good reports about Thruxton.

Its because of the '5 mins at 40mph in a 8yr old ferrari' that I thought I'd ask the advice......

I heard of a rally day somewhere in Wales that teaches you car control and the scandinavian flick all in MKII Escorts.......all off road on forest tracks.

Anyone done that one?

Would also recommend Palmer sport day. Absolutely first class throughout, great organisation, really encouraged to rag the cars, instructors know the score (and have a sense of humour).

Was lucky enough to go here for a corporate day out in May this year and was very impressed. Would also DEFINITELY pay with my own money to go back again. Can say any more than that really.

Go for it!

I did the Ferrari Experience at Elvington with these for my 21st. I booked at the last minute and used up an unbooked spot so paid cash at a bit of a discount. Frankly it was still over priced though. I really enjoyed a few laps on a coned out track in a Dax Rush, but all you got to do in the Ferraris and STi was runs up and down the runway and you had to launch from a rolling start so no 1/4 mile practise! I was expecting a proper track to be layed out so was disappointed with that.

If I were doing it again with these (or any similar thing probably) I'd chose the Kit Car Experience or whatever they call it, and get the Dax Rush all day - that will probably be cheaper and you can do what you like with it :)
