oil leak engine or clutch

hi all, i drive a 98 impreza prodrive, i have had a problem for a while with an oil leak, had it in to the local subaru dealer on a few occasions to rectify the prob at a cost so far of £1000, still there is a leak, was informed by an AA mech that there is a seal between the engine and clutch that could be leaking.
has anyone heard of this problem ?
or is the clutch hydraulically operated and its leaking from there, as my clutch is now slipping once oil temp is up to running temp ?

thanx in advance

there is a breather plate that does leak on them behind the flywheel, sounds like this is what he is on about. what have you had done then for a grands worth of work?

As above, it could be leaking from the plate, which is sealed to the block with threebond sealer. Or, it could be the rear main oil seal.

Either way your clutch has had it, so when this is replaced your mechanic can remove the flywheel to check where the oil's coming from

JUST HAD THE CLUTCH CHANGED ON MINE AS IT WAS SLIPPING TO FIND OUT THAT THE INPUT SHAFT OIL SEAL HAD GONE COVERING THE CLUTCH IN OIL.
WAS LOSING GEAR BOX OIL FOR A WHILE BEFORE IT WENT FULLY.
